Still calling Moses Lake 'home' after six decades
MOSES LAKE — They came from all over to share memories and see old friends. “We call ourselves the Spirits of ’62 because we are very spirited,” said Marilynn Hansen, a member of the Moses Lake High School Class of 1962 and one of the organizers of the class’s 60th reunion gathering last week. “We've had a reunion every five years since our 30th.” Wednesday, Sept. 14, found them gathering in the Moses Lake Civic Center — a building designed by Seattle-based architectural firm Miller Hull, whose founding partner Robert Hull grew up in Moses Lake and graduated from MLHS in 1963 — to swap stories and renew old friendships and spend some time together. “Tonight we’re expecting about 50 or 60 people,” Hansen said. “A lot of us went to kindergarten together.” ...

Man sentenced in shooting case
A Quincy man previously convicted of felonies has been sentenced to 31 months in prison after pleading guilty in a case that involved shooting at a man who had shot at his car and picking up the casings to hide evidence from the police.

Grant Co. seeks tourism funding applicants
EPHRATA - The Grant County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee announced in a press release that they are seeking grant applicants for qualifying tourism-promotion campaigns for events only. The application period is open from October 3 through 21. The release states applications must be received in the County Commissioners Office no later than 5 p.m., on Oct. 21. Postmark for mailed in applications must be prior to 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 21. Late applications will not be accepted.

Susan Pearl Kilpatrick passed away March 1, 2013 at the University of Washington Medical Center from complications following a nine year battle with cancer. Her husband, Jess Kilpatrick, was at her side as she passed. A lifelong resident of Moses Lake, Washington, she was 52 years old.
