Knights rally from early deficit, win 9-1

ROYAL CITY – The Knights bounced back from an early deficit to win 9-1 over College Place on Saturday afternoon, with three players scoring multiple goals in the win. “We’re playing the softer part of the schedule, so we have to be honest about that,” Head Coach Jens Jensen said. “That being said, still, that game is a win and you’ve got to get wins to be in the postseason. We’re happy about it. We’ve had some light scoring in the early season, so I hope that gives us some confidence in front of goal.”

GCSO Seeks info on man in custody

EPHRATA — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for any information the public might have about a man arrested near Coulee City on Thursday on suspicion of child rape. According to a GCSO statement released Friday, GCSO deputies arrested Tyrone Thomas Trexler, 52, of Coulee City, on March 23 on two counts of child rape and one count of unlawful imprisonment for an assault of a 6-year-old girl alleged to have occurred near Trexler’s previous home in the Moses Lake.

EPHRATA – The Grant County Sheriffs Office recognized Records Supervisor Dawn Prince, left, as January’s employee of the month in an announcement Thursday morning. Prince was nominated by Lt. Dan Durand for her efforts which lead to GCSO receiving a $20,000 grant from the Washington State Patrol to replace the department’s Livescan fingerprinting equipment. The new equipment is expected to assist investigators in obtaining information in an efficient and timely manner.

Time of Remembrance golf tournament returns this summer

WARDEN – The Time of Remembrance Golf Tournament will return to the Sage Hills Golf Club in Warden on June 10. The tournament is a four-person scramble and registration is $80 per golfer before June 5. The registration fee includes the green fee, cart and lunch. EPHRATA – Nitro, a 6-year-old German Shepherd, is putting his paws to work by being a peer support dog for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. “We started looking into what are regulations, what does it take for a peer support dog and he either met or exceeded what was required of a medical facility,” said Josh Sainsbury, Chief Deputy of Emergency Operations at the Sheriff’s Office. “And we are not as strict because it is not a medical facility,” Sainsbury explained that he attended a conference at the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs last year that talked about the need for law enforcement to have more support within their departments due to the rising number of suicides in the profession...
