Eagles finish top ten in Big Sky Championship
LITCHFIELD PARK, AZ – Eastern Washington’s womens golf finished ninth in the Big Sky Championships on Wednesday, shooting 911 overall, according to a statement by Eastern Washington University Athletics. "This week's finish was not the outcome we were hoping for after a strong finish last week," head coach Brenda Howe explained. "Day one had some good scores from our one, two and three seeded players, with the four and five struggling. Day two and three, the four and five seeded players [Brooke Mahler and Spencer Cerenzia] stepped up and did their job playing in those positions. Unfortunately, we struggled in the one-through-three spots the last two days."

WARDEN – When April 10 rolled around, Everett Cox, a freshman on the boys golf team for the Warden Cougars, hit the green early to work on his putting and chipping prior to the team's match against Chewelah at Sage Hills Golf Course. He said it felt like a pretty normal morning to him as he got in some last-minute practice.

Huskies baseball dominates against Seattle U
SEATTLE – The Huskies baseball team (19-19) was dominant in their game against Seattle University (13-23), pitching a 22-0 shutout, according to a statement by University of Washington Athletics. Their 22-run performance included three home runs and a grand slam and was their fourth shutout of the year.

MATTAWA – The Wahluke Warriors boys soccer team showed up with a point to prove as they were victorious over the Wapato Wolves, resulting in a 3-1 final score. The Warriors started fast as they jumped out to a three-goal lead before the end of the first half.

Ephrata softball takes doubleheader from Grandview
EPHRATA — The Ephrata Tigers softball team went on the road and took two victories in a doubleheader against the Grandview Greyhounds. The Tigers dominated, winning game one 19–0 and game two 9-1. In game one, the Tigers started fast with three runs in the first inning. Heading into the fourth, they were up 7-0 before firing off 9 runs, increasing the lead to 16-0. Head Coach Heather Wood’s game plan was followed to a tee. “Just play our game and make sure we're focusing on the fundamentals that we've been practicing, be patient at the plate, making sure we're taking the right pitch,” she said.

ACH softball victorious against visiting Omak Pioneers
COULEE CITY — The Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors softball team took home two wins when they hosted the Omak Pioneers. In game one they were victorious 10-6. In game two they built on their momentum, winning 11-2 and moving to five wins on the season. The approach to the doubleheader was influenced by the Warriors' loss to Brewster, and Head Coach Faye Butler saw that her players became very motivated. “The next day in practice, the girls were like, ‘We need to practice harder, Coach.’ And I was like, ‘All right, let's practice harder.’ One thing I've been trying to hammer in these girls this year is resilience, so yeah, we got into it, and they were pumped,” she said.

Cougars fall to Liberty Christian on the road in a doubleheader
WARDEN — The Warden Cougars baseball team were unsuccessful on the road against the Liberty Christian Patriots, losing in their doubleheader 3-1 in each game. Both games were very identical in how competitive they became. Both teams scored a run in the first inning, and it remained tied throughout most of the game until the end where the Patriots were able to score the winning runs. Cougars head coach Travis Visker knew this game was much closer than the final scores say. “We were just wanting to really try to compete with these guys and both games were close, I mean, the score doesn't even do them justice. BMX ramping up for spring fun in Moses Lake
MOSES LAKE – Now that Spring is here, outdoor activities are ramping up, including BMX leagues. On April 4th and 5th, Moses Lake BMX will hold multiple events for children and beginners. This comes after new changes were made to the organization’s offerings. They are starting two new leagues, one for beginners, at their open house this Saturday.

Bridge 247 replacement to begin this year
MOSES LAKE – Grant County Public Works is anticipating ramping up plans to replace Bridge 247, which has been down since February 2024. In the Grant County Commissioners meeting Tuesday, Public Works staff shared that a Department of Transportation grant was approved and the project could now move forward.

Patrols to address speeding near Westshore Drive
