W. Earle Johnson
W. Earle Johnson, 91, of Soap Lake and former Yakima and Lower Valley resident passed away on Sunday, July 23 at his home. Earle was born on April 8, 1915 in Taney County, Mo., the son of Ciniter Dorsal and Clio (Herd) Johnson. Earle received his education in Missouri. In the early 1930s he moved to Selah where he was an orchardist. He also owned and operated Barwoods Restaurant in Yakima. Earle moved to Mabton and founded Johnson Kennels, which he operated for twelve years. Earle built Nendel's Inn and Tillicum Restaurant in Sunnyside and then moved to Prosser where he owned and operated Hilltop Orchard and built Earle's Apartments, which he sold to retire in 1991. He then moved to Moses Lake and in 1994 moved to Soap Lake where he made his home until the time of his death. Earle was a member of the Lower Valley Elks #2112 and Prosser Eagles. He enjoyed all his business adventures, fishing, hunting and family gatherings.

Katie was born March 12, 1921 in Ruff, Washington to Fred and Katherine Schmauder. She passed away March 9, 2014 in Odessa, WA. She is survived by five children Robert (Honie) Gies, Richard (Mary) Gies, Marlene (Doug) Brendell-Baker, Susan Jensen, and Randy (Ruth) Gies. Twelve grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold in 1987 and four brothers and two sisters. She is a member of the Christ Lutheran Church where she did numerous duties and was part of the women's group. She was a former Odessa PTA and 4-H Leader. She enjoyed cooking and baking, her pets, and her garden. Viewing will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 900-930 at the Christ Lutheran Church. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Odessa Cemetery, Odessa, WA followed by a Celebration of Life memorial service at the Christ Lutheran Church, Odessa, WA at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tim Hauge, officiating. Noel Alva Brown, Jr.
Noel A. Brown, Jr., 87, longtime resident of Moses Lake known to most as the stamp man passed away at home May 3, 2013. Noel was born to Noel, Sr. and Laura Brown in Alameda, CA. on July 23, 1925. He was a Navy veteran, joining right after graduating high school in Fresno, CA. He served 3 tours and taught 6th grade grammar in Fresno. He moved to Moses Lake in 1978 with his loving wife of 43 years, Bonnie Brown, who preceded him in 1997 and his daughter Ardis in 2005. He is survived by his son Stanley Brown of Los Angeles, CA., his brother Charles Brown of CA and step-daughter Judy Kirkland of Texas, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid stamp collector and conversationalist. Loved by family, liked by many, he will be missed and remembered well. Per his request, no services will be held. He would like to say thanks to his caregiver Arlene Collier for taking care of him in the final years and thank you to the staff at Columbia Physical Therapy & Moses Lake Clinic for keeping him on his toes. Arrangements after his departure from this world were undertaken by Carver Funeral Home. Thanks to their staff for their fast and caring service.
