Janet L. Burkett

Janet L. Burkett, 61, entered into rest June 4, 2012 in Othello with her loving family at her side.

Janet was born September 25, 1950 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Hoover and Martha (Thompson) Ashley. The family moved allot so she wasn't able to finish her secondary education. She attended Big Bend Community College, Moses Lake, WA to successfully earn her G.E.D... Janet married the love of her life, Raymond Burkett, November 18, 1967 in Sayre, Oklahoma. They first met in a cotton field in California when Janet was 14 and Raymond was sixteen. Raymond was truly the love of Janet's life. Two daughters were born to this union, Cynthia and Sandy. Janet and Raymond had 42 years of a wonderful life together. A few years after their marriage they traveled to Othello to work picking cherries and later apples. After some time they decided to settled in Othello for a long lasting life.

Janet worked at Othello Community Hospital about 20 years in the housekeeping department. When she retired she was the supervisor of that department. She also worked at Harvest Fresh. Her hobbies included crafts of all types, making swags of flowers, loved working outside in the flowers and garden. Garage sales and collecting old jewelry were a couple of her passions. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life. She loved taking them fishing for a special occasion.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Raymond, her parents and two sisters.

Janet is survived by two daughters Cynthia Burkett, Othello and Sandy (Michael) Callahan, Moses Lake; sisters, Jeanie (Ray)Levrett, Sayre, OK, Linda ( Charles) Burkett, Warden, WA Fanny (James) Burkett, Othello, Dereecia Horton, OK and Patricia ( David) Kultgen, Othello; four granddaughter and five great grandchildren.

Viewing and Visitation will be Thursday June 14, 2012 between 5:00p.m. and 7:00p.m..with the funeral service Friday June 15, 2012 at 10:00a.m. Both services will be held at the Othello Four Square Church, 90 Venice St. Othello, WA. Burial will follow at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens, Othello.

Danekas Funeral Home and Crematory, Othello has been asked to care for the arrangements.
