Leandra Stidom, Sr.

Leandra Stidom, Sr., 73, longtime Moses Lake resident, died in his home on Monday, May 6, 2013 after a valiant fight with lung and gastric cancer. He was born August 21, 1939 in Normangee, Texas to Jordan and Almeta (Humble) Stidom.

Leandra attended Levelland Carver School in Levelland, Texas. He moved to Washington in 1961 and later met and married Essie Jackson on April 11, 1963 in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. Leandra worked for Boyle Chevrolet, then at the U & I Sugar Plant for many years and retired from Lamb-Weston/Con Agra Foods. He loved to go fishing in his younger years, and his favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys, he was a very dedicated and devoted fan, taking every opportunity to watch them play. He was a member of the Baptist Church for many years.

He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Essie, children Denese Jackson, Almeta (David) Johnson all of Moses Lake, WA, Leandra Stidom Jr. of Bakersfield, CA, Verdell (Debbie Hitzroth) Stidom, Josette Stidom and Ivorie Stidom all of Moses Lake, WA; grandchildren Aaliyah King, Porsha, Hopraya, Orlandowin Stidom and Marquesha Robertson and great-grandson Semaj Briggs; two sisters Rev. Jesse and Willie B. Cornelius and Delois Faucette, all of Dallas, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Billy Wayne Stidom, Dub Stidom, Jordan Stidom Jr., Johnny B. Stidom and Lester Stidom.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013 in New Bride Missionary Baptist Church, 4125 Fairview Pl. N.E., Moses Lake, with Rev. R.L. Williamson officiating.
