Unknown subjects tossed items around the yard and may have entered some sheds. It was unknown if anything had been taken. Report of a hit-and-run on Second Avenue Southwest. Unknown vehicle struck a vehicle legally parked on the side of the street, then fled. Report of a vehicle prowl in the 400 block of Sixth Avenue Southeast. Nothing was reported stolen. Report of attempted theft in the 200 block of D Street Southeast. Reporting party found subject on neighbor’s porch attempting to steal. Subject fled when reporting party approached her. Dec. 30 Report of a two-vehicle collision at the SR 282-Nat Washington Way intersection. Vehicle 1 attempted to turn onto Nat Washington Way traveling too fast for conditions and struck vehicle 2, causing reportable damage. Report of theft in progress at a business in the 1300 block of Nat Washington Way. Suspect was contacted and items recovered form her purse. OTHELLO — It’s been said that some people are born to greatness, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them. And then there are those who do great things on a small scale. “For whatever reason, I always seem to gravitate into leadership,” said Dr. Chris Dorow, owner of Othello Dental Arts and president of the Washington State Dental Association. “When I graduated from dental school in 1995, I was the student body president for the dental school. I went immediately from there into volunteering for the Washington State Dental Association. My first committee was the Communications Committee, and then they moved me to Membership Services … I was there for 16 years, and I (was asked) to be on the board of directors an insane amount of times.”

The preseason poll and preseason All-Conference Team was voted on by the league's nine head coaches, who could not vote for their own team.

Huskies earn home victory over Cougars

OTHELLO — The Othello Huskies (4-4) volleyball team earned a 3-1 win at home against the visiting Warden Cougars (1-6) Monday evening. “I feel like there were ups and downs, but overall I think we did pretty good,” said Huskies senior Whitlee Hollenbeck. The Huskies started the match strong, coming in with an early lead in the first set to take the victory over the Cougars 25-16. In the second set, the Cougars began to get in a groove, the score coming closer with the Huskies earning another set with a score of25-18. This shift was on full display in the third set as the Cougars pulled ahead of the Huskies to earn a 25-23 victory. The Huskies then rallied back in the fourth set to secure victory with a final score of 25-19.
