MOSES LAKE – On Tuesday November 29, 2022, Sandra Elaine Fox, beloved wife of Stephen Fox and mother to Karla Kay Fox, passed away at the age 57. Sandra was born in Carson, Cali. but made Moses Lake, Wash. her home for the majority of her life. Sandra graduated from Moses Lake High school in 1984, was married to Stephen in 1985, and had her daughter Karla Kay in 1986.
Wash. Dept. of Commerce seeks resident help to preserve broadband funding

Skaug sworn in as Moses Lake council member
MOSES LAKE — New Moses Lake City Council member Dave Skaug was formally sworn in as a member of the council and Deanna Martinez was named the city’s new deputy mayor at a regular council meeting on Tuesday. Skaug was sworn in by Grant County Superior Court Judge Anna Gigliotti, who also formally administered the oath of office to Mayor Don Myers. Council members also voted to retain the requirement that mayors have two years of experience on the city council before being eligible to serve as mayor. 2nd suspect in custody following Thursday burglary
MOSES LAKE/EPHRATA - A second suspect is now in custody following a Thursday-morning break-in at a Moses Lake home, according to a statement from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. “Investigators tracked 26-year-old Carlos Silva of Moses Lake to a home in the 1200 block of Mather Drive. Silva bolted out the back door when the team of law officers arrived at the front door. K9 Edo and handler Deputy Tyson Voss were covering the back and Silva quickly surrendered as Edo rapidly approached,” the statement said.

SAN FRANCISCO – Cougar linebacker Daiyan Henley was named the Pac-12 Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, following a career performance against Colorado State on Saturday. In the 38-7 win over the Rams, the graduate transfer from Nevada made a career-high in tackles (13)and sacks (3). Henley also forced two fumbles in the win. Henley’s three sacks were the most by a Cougar in a game since Hercules Mata’afa’s three sacks against Utah in 2017, the same season where Mata’afa was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. The three sacks are also the most by a Pac-12 player in a game this season, and Saturday’s performance boosted Henley to the Pac-12’s leader in sacks so far this season...

WASHINGTON - There are eight large fires in Washington according to the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center as of Sept. 20. The site defines a large fire as any wildland fire in timber 100 acres or greater, and 300 acres or greater in grasslands/rangelands, or has an Incident Management Team assigned to it.
GCSO seeks help in locating missing ML couple
MOSES LAKE — Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputies are seeking the public’s help in the search for a Moses Lake couple missing since Sunday, Sept. 18. According to a GCSO statement, Charles and Theresa Bergman, both of Moses Lake, were last seen at around 12:40 a.m. Sunday morning at the Spokane International Airport, where Charles had gone to pick Theresa up. The Bergmans were driving in a 2013 silver Chevrolet Impala bearing Washington license plate BLU5395 and were reported missing on Monday, Sept. 19, after they did not return home.

MARYSVILLE — The Mountain Loop fire in Snohomish County was up to 14 acres Thursday, but it’s completely lined and fire crews are taking advantage of lower temperatures and higher humidity to keep the blaze from growing, according to a statement from Snohomish County Fire District 22. These wildfires were also burning in Washington as of Thursday afternoon, according to the National Interagency Fire Center: • Tallman Road, about 19 miles northeast of Spokane: 3.3 acres. Kennewick man gets 42 months for insurance fraud scheme
SPOKANE — A Kennewick man has been sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison for his role in a complex scheme involving staging fake automobile accidents to defraud insurance companies, making false statements to federal law enforcement and attempting to obstruct a federal investigation, according to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office on Friday. Ali Abed Nasser, 52, pleaded guilty to the charges in 2022. In addition to the prison time, Nasser also agreed to three years of court-ordered supervision following the completion of his sentence, forfeiture of nearly $20,000 and financial restitution of roughly $127,000, the press release noted. In addition, Nasser attempted to bribe someone he suspected was a federal informant in order to stop the investigation and make the case go away, the press release said. “Staged accidents make our streets dangerous and distract police from responding to legitimate distress calls,” wrote Vanessa Waldorf, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, in a press release. “Moreover, efforts to hinder federal criminal proceedings will not be tolerated.” “We will continue to work closely with our federal and state law enforcement, and private industry, partners to investigate fraud schemes,” Waldorf added.
