A 67-year-old Moses Lake man died Aug. 12 from injuries sustained in a June 16 motorcycle collision in Kittitas County, the Washington State Patrol announced Thursday.

Helen Marie Moser Bishop
Helen Marie Moser Bishop passed away on Nov. 29, 2014, in Vancouver, Washington, at the age of 98. Born in Bruce, Alberta, Canada to Alex and Frances Moser, she and her family moved to Colton, Washington, when she was a year old. She attended schools in Colton and married Gilbert (Gib) Bishop on Sept. 5, 1942. They spent their early years in Olympia before moving back to Colton and then to Moses Lake in 1967.
Rabid bat found in Grant County
MOSES LAKE — A Grant County resident is undergoing treatment after being bitten by a bat that tested positive for rabies. It’s the first rabid bat identified in Grant County in more than 15 years, according to the Grant County Health District.
Single-vehicle collision closes SR 262
MARDON — A fiery collision left a man in the hospital and closed state Route 262 Friday morning, according to a statement from the Washington State Patrol. At a little after 8:30 a.m., Gabriel Vargas, 39, of Quincy was driving a semi truck east on SR 262 when he drove off the eastbound shoulder and through the guardrail, according to the statement. The truck rolled down the embankment onto its passenger side and caught fire. Vargas, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake, according to the statement. Neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the collision. The incident is under investigation. SR 262 reopened at 4:40 Friday afternoon, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — A winter storm in Washington state left thousands of without power in the greater Seattle area and caused school closures and delays.
Ephrata man killed in collision near Coulee City
COULEE CITY — An Ephrata man was killed when he hit the back of a car while riding his motorcycle Sunday morning. Dennis Armour, 68, died at Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital Sunday, according to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol. The collision occurred at about 9 a.m. roughly nine miles southwest of Coulee City. Armour was following a car driven by Ashley Offer, 39, Renton, when Offer slowed down to turn into the Blue Lake rest area, the WSP memo said. Armour ran into the back of Offer’s vehicle; his motorcycle came to rest on the northbound shoulder. Offer’s car came to rest in the northbound lane. Offer and two passengers in her car, Steven Horner, 37, Renton and a six-year-old boy, were not injured.

In a filing with the Washington Secretary of State’s office and available on the office’s website, Alameda, Californium-based Sila has listed the address as a principal office — the only one the company has under its name in Washington state...

Marion May Oliver
Marion May Oliver was born in June 1929 and passed away in January 2023 at 93 years of age. She was born in Bellingham, Washington, and moved to California in 1949 and didn't come back to Washington until 1970. She lived in Moses Lake from 1975 to 2023. Marion was happily married to George in April 1950 for 53 years until he went to be with Jesus. She loved Jesus, George, her three kids, her grandkids, her great-grandkids, her great-great-grandkids and various cats through the years. Marion was a gracious woman with a fun, spunky personality.
