Helen Marie Moser Bishop

| December 9, 2014 5:00 AM

Helen Marie Moser Bishop passed away on Nov. 29, 2014, in Vancouver, Washington, at the age of 98. Born in Bruce, Alberta, Canada to Alex and Frances Moser, she and her family moved to Colton, Washington, when she was a year old. She attended schools in Colton and married Gilbert (Gib) Bishop on Sept. 5, 1942. They spent their early years in Olympia before moving back to Colton and then to Moses Lake in 1967.

Helen and Gib spent many happy years together fishing, traveling in their 5th wheel and attending Cougar football games until Gib's death in 2010. Helen was active in the Lady Elks and in her later years loved playing pinochle with her girlfriends (she took these games seriously!). She will forever be known as the best grandma ever not only to her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren but to many of their friends. Spending time with them was the highlight of her life. It has been said, "When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure" - author unknown. Helen has certainly left a treasure of memories for her daughters Pam (Walt) Skalicky in Vancouver and Barb (Jim) Christie of Spokane, as well as her 4 grandchildren (Kevin, Cory, Joe and Jennifer) and her 9 great-grandchildren (Caitlin, Ben, Cayla, Autumn, Sydney, Tanner, Indiana, Virginia and Arizona). A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
