MOSES LAKE — With Governor Inslee visiting Korea and Japan this week, it seems fitting that the mayor of Gunpo City, Korea would pay Washington a visit. Mayor Kim Yoon Joo was one of the featured guest speakers at the Columbia Basin Trade Expo & Dinner at the Columbia Basin Technical Skills Center in Moses Lake on Tuesday. The gathering was an opportunity for several local small business owners to showcase their wares and present what their businesses potentially bring to the Korean market. Grant County Economic Development Council Executive Director Jonathan Smith began the night by introducing the businesses and guests in attendance.

WENATCHEE — The Moses Lake School Board received one of three School Boards of the Year awards for the North Central Washington Education Service District at a banquet May 11 in Wenatchee. Shanna Golladay of Warden was recognized with the Friends of Children award, along with an Oroville couple.

Mel Olson inducted into Inland NW Hall of Fame 

Storied broadcaster Mel Olson was inducted into the Inland Northwest Hall of Fame yesterday  for his service and dedication to prep wrestling in the State of Washington. Whether he was broadcasting games for KBSN in Moses Lake, coaching at Chief Moses Middle School or starting a kids wrestling program, Olson has been an influential member of of the wrestling community in the Northwest.

Ray E. Richardson, 70, of Moses Lake, Washington passed away on Aug. 14, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. Ray was born to Bobbie E. Richardson and Shirley M. Reddell on July 20, 1953, in Wichita County, Texas. Ray moved to Washington with his family in 1983. Ray’s favorite pastimes were fishing, hanging out with his dog Baby Doll, playing cribbage, drinking Coca-Cola while eating sweet treats and watching his dog play in the yard while it was snowing. Ray enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren whenever time would allow. Ray also liked having long talks with Katrina while traveling for his treatment.

Elliott Goodrich well qualified for school board

We have been residents of Moses Lake for 40 years and we are excited for the opportunity to vote for Elliott Goodrich for Moses Lake School Board. Rarely do we get a chance to elect a person with such ability and qualifications. Elliott Goodrich attended Moses Lake schools K-12, graduating from Moses Lake High School in 2002. He received his B.A. in Political Science at BYU Provo, Utah in 2006 and his M.B.A. at the University of Washington, Seattle in 2011.

Max Ray Lang, beloved son and brother, was laid to rest today at Tahoma National Cemetery with full military honors. Max was a decorated veteran who served in the Vietnam War and then continued to serve his country for another five years. He was a member of the Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal, Navy, and the CB’s and traveled the world doing his part to protect his country.
