Edith S. Prentice Shelton

Edith Shelton, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 23. She was born June 11, 1921 in Plummer, Idaho, to Clifford and Lois Olmsted. The family moved to Worley, Idaho where Edith graduated from high school in 1939.

Edith married C. Maynard Prentice on Sept. 2, 1939 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They lived in the Worley area until moving to Moses Lake in 1946.

She worked in fresh pack potato sheds until 1966 when she began working at Basic American Foods until her retirement in 1981. Edith and her husband were 4-H leaders for 10 years and touched the lives of many young people. Maynard passed away in 1972.

Edith married Darrell Shelton in 1975. Darrell died in a car accident in 1980.

Edith was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church and active in the local AARP.

Edith is survived by her sons, Eugene and Ray Prentice; her grandchildren, Sena Carlie, Kevin Prentice, Melissa Roeder, Mark Prentice, Shawn Prentice, Steve Prentice, Nathaniel Gregg and Miriam Gregg; eight great-grandchildren and numerous step-children, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, all her brothers and sisters, and granddaughter, Teresa Prentice.

Her love and giving spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 26, at Chapel of Memories with Pastor Deverett Butrick of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Moses Lake officiating. Interment will follow in Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory.

There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
