Ruth M. Holm

| April 6, 2010 9:00 PM

Ruth M. Holm of Moses Lake passed away April 2, 2010 at the age of 101 at Lakeview Home Care.

Ruth was born on April 14, 1908 to Anna and Herman Gulbrandson in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Ruth and her family moved to Everett, Washington, when she was young. Ruth graduated from Everett High School. She married Monrad (Monte) Holm who was the love of her life on June 22, 1939. Ruth, Monte and their daughter, Karen, moved to Moses Lake December 26, 1954.

In Ruth’s younger years she was a bookkeeper. She quit her job when Karen was born and became a full time mother and housewife. When she and her family moved to Moses Lake she became the bookkeeper for their business – Moses Lake Iron & Metal – for many years.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Monte, on May 3, 2006, her parents, her sisters Hjordes (Kaks) and Sylvia and brother Ronald.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Karen (Wayne) Rimple, grandsons Larry (Rika) Rimple of Yokohama, Japan, and Steven (Carmen) Rimple of Moses Lake and 6 great-grandsons: Ty & Niko of Japan and Jacob, Kyle, Gunnar & Everett of Moses Lake. She is also survived by her brother Fred Gulbrandson of Everett, Washington, and sisters Lorna Krieger of Coupeville, Washington, and Helen Cameron of Everett, Washington and numerous nieces and nephews.

We wish to thank the staff at Lakeview Home Care for their care and compassion in caring for Mom during her last few weeks and Dr. Craig Talbot for his professional and medical assistance. We also wish to thank Evelyn Erichsen, Lillian Lucke, David Fazende, and Cara Johnson for their care of Mom while she was in her own home. A special thanks to Cathy Kersey, Lana Jackson and Donny Merrill for always being there.

Mom was gracious, kind, loving, and comforting. She served as a constant example of what love was all about. She loved people unconditionally, always with a smile on her face – even until the end. She was devoted to her family and found no greater joy than being with her grandsons and great-grandsons. She was an avid reader until a few days before she died. She was also a fan of the Seattle Mariners and Dancing With The Stars! She was in amazingly good health until the week before she died. She got her wish – to go to Dad’s birthday party. We are happy that she is with Dad again but we miss her so much.

Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com.
