Rita Noland
Rita Noland, age 80, long time resident of Moses Lake, Washington passed away peacefully on October 19, 2012. She was surrounded by her family, and she will be missed by the many that have had the good fortune to have known her.
Geraldine Rita Teresa Fennell was born on January 27, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, third child and only daughter of Thomas and Geraldine (Green) Fennell. When she was 25 and living in Los Angeles, she met Loren Lewis 'Dean' Noland, who became her husband of 54 years. They left California for Moses Lake, Washington where the couple settled in 1958.
Rita embraced the community through church and school activities. She worked as a teacher's aide for several years, and helped care for children with developmental challenges. Rita loved children, and was always ready with encouragement and a smile.
She was passionate about staying active. She was an excellent roller skater in her youth, and continued swimming throughout her life. She had a dream of having a permanent place to share her love of swimming with others, and after spending a number of years at a pool supply store she was able to realize her dream by building a pool and opening her own business called Rita's Swim and Trim. She invited community members of all ages and touched the lives of many with her patience, wisdom and humor.
She enjoyed spending time with relatives during family reunions and will be remembered by all for the joy she brought to the gatherings. She was a beloved wife and caring mother to her family and a loving friend to her relatives, her neighborhood and her community.
She is survived by her husband, Dean Noland; three children, John Noland, Dawn Noland, and Michael Noland; three grandchildren Sky Beebe, Eric Noland, and Grace Noland-Randle.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Moses Lake Christian Church 200 E Yonezawa Blvd Moses Lake, Washington.
