The opening weekend of trout fishing in Eastern Washington was one of the best in years. Anglers were greeted with sunny skies and calm weather, and trout fishing was very good on most of the lakes in the region. My wife and I visited seven lakes in Okanogan County on Saturday of the opener, and found happy anglers everywhere we went.

Run a clean campaign
What is it about an election that brings out the sleazeballs, the dishonest, the bullies, the mean spirited, and those who act like they are still in junior high? In the words of the late Joan Rivers, "Oh, grow up!" Apparently when one can't beat one's opponent honestly then bring on the personal crucifixions! Personal attacks only show me that these individuals are afraid to examine their own lives and own up to their own transgressions or have such a high and mighty opinion of themselves that they believe they are perfect and thus justified in being judge and jury of everyone else-or at least their opponent. Of course the red herring can work, but I would hope that any thinking individual can see through the subterfuge and realize that these people are only trying to detract from the real issues, their inexperience, ineptitude and/or poor job performance. Who is the only candidate who has run a clean campaign with zero personal attacks? Who is the only candidate who has run a campaign on the issues?
