MATTAWA — One after another the children picked up a cup, each with its own salmon fry swimming around, and one after another they poured the contents into the Columbia River.

Ephrata hosts summer league basketball tournament
EPHRATA – Ephrata High School hosted its Buckets In the Basin Summer Tip Off tournament this past weekend, featuring boys varsity and JV squads from around the Basin. The summer league tournament gives coaches and players the opportunity to bond with each other before the regular season begins this winter. The bracket featured teams from 4A, 2A, 2B and 1B schools. “It’s early,” Ephrata basketball head coach Rick Walter said. “It’s just fun to be in the gym and excited to get started.” ...

ROYAL CITY - The Royal High School graduating class of 2022 took their final steps as seniors Friday night at the Royal High School football field. Assistant principal Randy Miller started the program by recognizing parents in the audience who had graduated from Royal High School, then recognizing students who were the first in their family to graduate and those first in their family to go on to post-secondary education. He also recognized two graduating seniors entering military service. “We pray for each individual in the Royal High School Class of 2022,that they may accomplish all they're capable of. Give us the courage to face oncoming challenges of life with grace and compassion. May you guide us as it unfolds the next chapter of our lives and may we look back on the last 13 years with an appreciation for the time spent together.” senior Kate Allred said in her opening prayer.

MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake High School class of 2022 was the first to gather for a graduation ceremony on Lions Fields since 2019, before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic prompted social distancing, lockdowns and drive-by graduation ceremonies. MOSES LAKE — Clair Reed said competition baking requires precision. Noah Bingham and Eli Legault had to go forward on a completely unfamiliar project after a project partner moved away. The three Columbia Basin Technical Skills Center students finished in the top 10 at recent state competitions. Reed was third in the state SkillsUSA baking competition. Legualt and Bingham finished seventh in the state Future Business Leaders of America competition to build a video game, their first year in FBLA. “I’m mildly disappointed I didn’t get first,” Reed said. “Just me being competitive.” ...

With real estate, that figure can be measured in months of inventory. “Months of inventory is an indicator of housing supply,” said Cara McNeil of Washington Realtors. “For example, when someone lists a home, it becomes counted as inventory. There is a formula for calculating months of inventory, but simply put, it refers to how many months it would take for the inventory on the market to sell in the current market. SOAP LAKE - This past week, Soap Lake students showcased their many talents with a public art show. The Soap Lake Middle/High School Art Show was held at Notaras Hall on May 25 and 26.
