MOSES LAKE - The Northwest Ag Demolition Derby wrapped up day two on Wednesday, its final day of crashing, smashing and rolling at the Moses Lake Roundup Arena. Those whose cars survived day one returned to the arena for day two along with some new faces. With a few more tipped cars than the day before, the derby saw some familiar-faced winners and a few new to success. MOSES LAKE — A popular event in Moses Lake will have a new name this year: The Miner Services Demo Derby. “We’re really big on getting our name out there and being part of the community,” said Seth Miner, owner of Miner Services and the demo derby’s new sponsor. “We’re big derby-goers. Bids opened for preparation of new Grant County Jail site

EPHRATA — Site preparation for the new Grant County Jail will begin by late February 2024, with the start of construction still to be determined. County officials opened bids for the site preparation phase of the project Tuesday. Capstone Structures LLC, Quincy, was the apparent low bidder. The company bid $2.58 million as its base bid. Marc Seeberger of Lydig Construction, the project manager, said county officials must award the contract to what is called the lowest responsive bidder. “That means there are certain specific requirements they have to include with this (bid) envelope,” Seeberger said. “There were certain ways the bid form had to be filled out.”

MOSES LAKE – The Moses Lake Demo Derby held the second half of its events Wednesday night with more drivers, dirt and another round of demolition. “It’s always easier on the second day because everybody is going with the flow already” said Aaron Schrodt, organizer for the Moses Lake Demo Derby. “Everybody did great, we had a couple roll roll-overs, but everybody was safe.”
