Earlita M. Rhoads
Earlita M. Rhoads, 91, longtime Moses Lake resident passed away at her home on Saturday following a short battle with thyroid cancer. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Kayser's Chapel and Crematory. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory.
Aurora Louise Updegrave
Aurora Louise Updegrave passed away peacefully in her Moses Lake home on December 4th, 2013. She was surrounded by her four children and loving husband of 68 years. Aurora was born in Reno, Nevada on July 16, 1924 to Jerome and Louise Brook. She spent her school years in Sandy, Oregon where she met Arlie Updegrave, her lifetime sweetheart. They married on October 2, 1945 in her parent's home in Sandy amidst white gladiolas. Arlie was serving in the Air Force at the time as an aircraft navigator.

Ralph William Fleming, 92, of Silverton, Idaho, passed away July 8, 2022 at the Good Samaritan- Silver Wood Village of Silverton. He was born August 6, 1929 in Lewellen, Nebraska; Ralph was the son of Arthur LeRoy and Nellie Elizabeth (Bennett) Fleming.

Cora Marie Bringman (Dorszynski), 57, of Kennewick, Washington, passed on Monday, Aug. 21, in Pasco, Washington. Cora was born Jan. 3, 1966, to Irene and Edward Dorszynski Sr. in Moses Lake, Washington where she was raised and lived throughout high school. She was homecoming queen at Moses Lake High School, graduating in 1984. She left three beautiful children she loved and adored: Lewis Gans Sr (Kristen), Chelsea Dorszynski and Cami Newman and seven wonderful grandchildren Grace, Klare, Lewis Jr., Gage, Landon, Charlee and Virgil. She was expecting a new granddaughter in January 2024.
ML’s Sandhop receives Gareth Giles Award
MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Athletic Director Loren Sandhop was named a recipient of the Gareth Giles Award, an annual award given to a member of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association’s Representative Assembly who embodies leadership and dedication to schools and athletes. “It’s an honor, because when you look at the group of ADs that have been honored, it really shows a tremendous amount of time that they’ve devoted to kids,” Sandhop said. “This is like a career-long award. This is my 30th year, and 25th being an AD. Most ADs don’t make it (that long).” Sandhop was given the award at last month’s Washington State Secondary Athletic Administrators Association Conference. Criteria for the award, according to the WIAA’s website, include a minimum of five years as a member of the WIAA’s Representative Assembly, WIAA Board, or special committee; demonstrated leadership in the WIAA’s legislative process; positive resolution in problem-solving and implementing WIAA rules into the schools of the district, among others.
Mary Helen Vasquez
Mary Helen Vasquez, 68, of Royal City died Oct. 19, 2022, at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake, Washington. She was born July 11, 1954, in Moses Lake to Gilbert and Stella Vasquez. Mary was preceded in death by her father on Dec. 29, 2014, and her mother on Sept. 11, 2000. Surviving family members are two sisters Eloise and Roseann, both of Royal City; one brother Joseph (sister-in-law Kathy), one niece and two nephews, five great-nieces and two great-nephews, all of Ephrata; and many godchildren. Always with a camera at all family get-togethers making loving memories with all her photos, she was life and loved by all. She graduated with the Royal High Knights in 1973. She became a one-time caregiver and vineyard worker, and taught for Royal Red Rock Elementary for 27 years. She also taught religious ed for Holy Communion and Confirmation for 30-plus years.

Moses Lake volleyball camp brings together young athletes
MOSES LAKE – Moses Lake High School hosted a volleyball skills camp this week, bringing in over 60 participants from grades 5-8. The Lil Mavs camp was held from Tuesday-Thursday this week, put on by the Moses Lake volleyball coaching staff. “We’re re-establishing it,” Moses Lake Volleyball Head Coach Krystal Trammell said of the camp. “We haven’t had it because of Covid, and so with the new program we’re trying to establish our program culture.” ...
