Robert Stucky
Nov. 6, 1935 – June 6, 2025
Robert Lee Stucky of Ephrata,Washington, graduated to his eternal home on June 6, 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by loved ones. Robert “Bob” was born on Nov. 6, 1935 to Edmund and Lydia Stucky in Monroe, Washington. He was the seventh of 11 children. After graduating from Monroe High School in 1954, he went on to attend Grace Bible Institute, where he met and fell in love with Joyce Krehbiel. They married on Aug. 21, 1956, in Newport Washington, and have been lifelong partners ever since. They welcomed their first son James Edward a year later, and then a second son, Stanley Thomas. Bob worked on his father’s dairy farm in Monroe for the next 13 years. Then the family of four moved from Monroe to Ephrata, Washington in 1969 and started the Stucky Brothers Dairy with his brother Jim Stucky, later changing the name to R3J Dairy to incorporate their wives, both named Joyce. Two more sons were added to the family, Jeffrey Alan and Richard King. The family successfully ran the farm until retiring from farming in 1997.
Clarence Hamilton
Sept. 25, 1935 — Oct. 17, 2025
Clarence Edward Hamilton, 90, a longtime Colfax, Washington resident, passed away on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025. He went by many names: Dad, Pops, Papa, FP (i.e. Favorite Person), Gramps, Grandpa, Sweetheart and Honey. Clarence passed very peacefully from this life into eternity, surrounded by Laura (his wife of 19 years), his three children, their spouses and his faithful dog Buddy. Clarence had dealt with the effects of dementia for approximately seven years. He was always fearful of ending up in a nursing home, and the family is eternally grateful for his loving caregivers who made his wish of passing at home possible. His caregivers were his daughter-in-law Soni Hamilton, stepdaughter Denise Beck and family friends Molly Overby and Rindy Waldo, as well as several of his other family members and Gentiva Hospice.
Deanna Jean Cuthbertson ‘Mimi’ Hirz
April 12, 1939 — June 11, 2025
Deanna Jean Cuthbertson Hirz, “Mimi”, a beloved resident of Moses Lake, Washington, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. She was 86 years old. A joyous reunion with Ned took place on this day, which was also their 65th wedding anniversary. Born on April 12, 1939, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, Deanna was the daughter of Frederick Cuthbertson and Lenora Brown. Her family moved to Medford, Oregon when she was six months old, where she grew up. A graduate of Medford High School, Deanna embraced life with enthusiasm. She loved participating in school plays, she was a spirited majorette and cheerleader in the Bliss Band, and she lent her beautiful voice to the girls' choir. Deanna became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1954 at the age of 15. Even at age 12, before joining the church, she declared to her mother and aunt her intention to work on their family tree. Little did she know this spark would ignite one of her life's greatest callings. Beginning in 1959, Deanna dedicated her life to genealogy, meticulously indexing tens of thousands of names and passionately helping countless others discover their own family heritage. She joyfully served in many church capacities, including Stake Young Women's President and Counselor, Relief Society President, Primary President, teacher, compassionate service leader and chorister. She loved working with the youth.
Kenneth Layton Bohne
1940 — 2025
Kenneth L. Bohne, 84, of Moses Lake, Washington, passed away peacefully at home. Born in Cardston, Alberta to John and LaPreil Bohne, Ken was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and faithful servant of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ken grew up in Glenwood, Alberta, and moved with his family to Moses Lake, Washington, in 1954. He graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1958, where he was an accomplished trumpet player in the high school band. He enjoyed playing basketball and softball with the LDS Church and in city leagues, fostering lifelong friendships along the way. He was also a member of The Variations, a local singing group that performed at church and community events. Ken married his eternal companion, Buelah, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They celebrated 64 years of marriage and shared a life filled with love, faith, and service. He was a lifelong member of The Church, where he served in many leadership roles, including Bishop, Stake Executive Secretary, Ward Clerk, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, and Stake Athletic Director. His dedication to his faith and his service to others were central to his life.
Teresa Jean Galliart

Teresa Jean Galliart, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 29, 2024, at home in Moses Lake, Washington. Teresa was born on May 5, 1960, to Marilyn and Kenneth in Kirkland, Washington. Teresa was married to William “Eric” Galliart in October 1993 and they lived happily in Moses Lake for 31 years. She had a very eventful life, from the amazing cruises she went on with family to the fun concerts she went to. She worked so hard at everything she did, being a mom, wife, sister and daughter.
Quincy EP&O levy to go to voters
QUINCY — Quincy School District voters will be asked to accept or reject a four-year educational programs and operations levy in a special election in February. If it’s approved, it would replace the levy approved by voters in 2022. District superintendent Nik Bergman said money raised through the levy accounts for about 16% of the district’s budget. “The state doesn’t fully fund a lot of programs,” Bergman said. “It’s used to fund our highly capable (program) and STEAM enrichment. Some of it is used to fund special education, early learning, the arts, music. We have a music program that is just flourishing right now, and I can connect that to the community support of the levy.”

Quinn Jewel Chlarson, age 92, of Ephrata, Washington, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, in Soap Lake, Washington. He was born on September 20, 1933, in Tremonton, Utah, to Lyman Edward Chlarson and LaVoy Matilda Hunsaker, joining five sisters and two brothers. Quinn grew up in Honeyville, Utah, where he was raised with a deep love of faith, family and hard work — values that would define his life.

Climbing to new heights in Landfall Games’ ‘Peak’

Alberto B. Morales
1947 – 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of our beloved brother Alberto (Bert) B. Morales. He died of natural causes on Nov. 2, 2024, in Moses Lake. Bert was born Nov. 19, 1947, in Lerdo, Durango, Mexico to Elvira Lopez and was raised in Edinburg, Texas. He entered the United States with his mother and sister Rosa in 1955. He enjoyed learning and receiving an education. He earned his diploma in 1967 from Agua Fria Union High School in Avondale, Arizona. He continued his studies in an automotive mechanic program in Yakima County. Bert volunteered to serve our country in 1969 in the Army. He was deployed to the Vietnam War as a medical laboratory specialist. He then served in the National Guard. He attended the University of Washington and studied science and Spanish. Bert worked at Lamb Weston, Connell, Washington for many years and retired as a machine operator. His undiagnosed PTSD started to surface which contributed to his poor health and early death.

Angel Marie Valenzuela, age 20, passed away on April 16, 2025, in Othello, Washington. Born on December 21, 2004, in Moses Lake, Washington, Angel brought light and love into the world from the very beginning.
A century of service
Key Club youth service organization turns 100
MOSES LAKE — One of the most active service organizations in America is turning 100 this year, and most of its members haven’t even turned 18. “Key Club is all about service and helping the community,” said Pedro Lopez, who’s the Key Club district governor for Moses Lake High School’s chapter. There are also chapters at Vanguard Academy and Ephrata High School, he said.

Timothy Robert Hepner entered into the arms of the Savior he spent his entire life loving and serving on March 2, 2025 at the age of 70. Tim was always so proud of the fact that he was born in Madison, South Dakota on May 25, 1954, into a family of one brother and three sisters, Thomas, Trudy, Preta and Debbie.

Audrian Eleanor Huff passed away at home July 2, 2025, in Moses Lake, WA with her husband Michael Riggs at her side. She was 84. While her passing means she is no longer suffering, it leaves an absence in the hearts and lives of those who were lucky enough to call her wife, mother, grandma, or friend.

Adams County Fire District 5 receives clean audit
OLYMPIA — The Office of the Washington State Auditor has released its audit findings for the Adams County Fire Protection District No. 5, covering the period from Jan. 1, 2021, to Dec. 31, 2023. The audit concluded that the district operated in compliance with applicable state laws, regulations, and its own policies, effectively safeguarding public resources from fraud, loss, and abuse. Key areas examined included the accuracy of annual report filings, general disbursements, payroll processes, compliance with open public meeting laws, and the overall financial condition of the district.
