Grant County employment keeps rising
OLYMPIA — Grant County’s nonfarm employment increased for 14 consecutive months, April 2021 to May 2022, and the labor force expanded from June 2021 to May 2022. How long the growth will continue is uncertain, however, according to an analysis from the Washington Employment Security Department.
Grant PUD commissioners to consider Reclamation contract
EPHRATA — Grant County PUD commissioners will consider a new contract to transmit electricity to three irrigation districts next month, possibly as early as its June 13 meeting. The new contract will include charges for transmission services, which will cost the districts about $1 million per year.
Grant PUD fiber, wireless workshop set for Feb. 13
EPHRATA — The cost of providing electrical service, the costs and benefits of the Grant County PUD fiber optic network and electrical rates for individual customer classes will be the subjects of workshops in February and early March. The goal is to set individual customer class rates by early April, said PUD chief financial officer John Janney.

Activities are planned from 8:30-11 p.m. ET throughout the week. Vice President Mike Pence will address the RNC Wednesday from Baltimore’s Fort McHenry, which inspired “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Other speakers include the vice president’s wife Karen Pence, President Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump, several members of Congress, and counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway. President Trump plans to give his formal acceptance speech from the White House South Lawn on Thursday. Timings of the speeches have not yet been released.
