Taylor sworn into MLPD
Moses Lake Police Chief Kevin Fuhr swears in the Moses Lake Police Department’s newest patrol officer Isaac Taylor at a city council meeting on Tuesday. Both Taylor, a recent graduate of Eastern Washington University’s criminal justice program, and his fiance, Madison Krogh, are Moses Lake natives who met during their sophomore year at Moses Lake High School. Fuhr said he likes hiring the sons and daughters of Moses Lake. “It’s how you keep them 30 years,” he said.

SEATTLE (AP) — The airport at Moses Lake could be one of six places in the nation where drones are tested for commercial uses approved by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Doris Elaine McDaniel went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday February 1, 2011 at the age of 49 in Moses Lake. Her promotion into her Lord's presence was suddenly caused by a pulmonary embolism. Doris was born on March 31, 1961 in Ashland, Mississippi to Richard and Lucille Rooks. She graduated from Holly Springs High School in 1980 and attended Junior College in Oxford, Mississippi receiving an AA degree. She was married to David and moved to Moses Lake in 1998. She was the beloved mother of Sherita, Shavita, David Jr, and Shetekia.

Carol Anne Mansfield, 80, surrounded by her family, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, April 6, 2023. Carol A Mansfield was born on Dec. 13, 1942, in Wray, Colorado to parents Robert L. and Ruth M. Jones. She lived with her family in Wray, Colorado until the age of 2 when they moved to Bremerton, Washington. She attended school in Bremerton and graduated from West Bremerton High School in 1961. After graduating from Peterson Business School in 1963, Carol began working for Boeing until 1967. She worked at McChord Air Force Base as a data entry specialist from 1967 to 1975, when she moved with her daughter, Kim, to Moses Lake, Washington and began working at U and I Sugar.

Patricia Waslawski, 54, passed away at her home in Centralia, Wash. on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004.
Born into an Air Force family in Breeze, Illinois, she traveled to different bases in Alaska, Wyoming, Texas, England, Mississippi and Washington.

Joel Juarez
Joel R. Juarez, 91, of Moses Lake, Washington, passed away peacefully on Jan. 25, 2023. He was born in Corpus Christi Texas on Dec. 28, 1931, to Manuel O. Juarez and Leonor R. Juarez. As a young boy he recalled helping with chores on the family farm such as milking cows and tending chickens. As a teenager he learned to plow and seed various crops with a team of mules. As a young adult he learned to repair cars and other farm equipment from his older brother Manuel. On Dec. 11, 1952, he was deployed to South Korea to serve in the Korean War, where he quickly ranked as a platoon sergeant. He returned safely in the fall of 1954 and was married to Beatrice V. Huerta on Feb. 12, 1956. In 1966 they moved to Moses Lake, Washington, where they raised their four children. For the next 56 years, home was Moses Lake where he made many new friends and reunited with old friends who also moved here from Texas.
