December 28, 1931 – January 25, 2023

Joel R. Juarez, 91, of Moses Lake, Washington, passed away peacefully on Jan. 25, 2023. He was born in Corpus Christi Texas on Dec. 28, 1931, to Manuel O. Juarez and Leonor R. Juarez. As a young boy he recalled helping with chores on the family farm such as milking cows and tending chickens. As a teenager he learned to plow and seed various crops with a team of mules. As a young adult he learned to repair cars and other farm equipment from his older brother Manuel. On Dec. 11, 1952, he was deployed to South Korea to serve in the Korean War, where he quickly ranked as a platoon sergeant. He returned safely in the fall of 1954 and was married to Beatrice V. Huerta on Feb. 12, 1956.

In 1966 they moved to Moses Lake, Washington, where they raised their four children. For the next 56 years, home was Moses Lake where he made many new friends and reunited with old friends who also moved here from Texas.

He worked as a mechanic, farmer, truck driver and trucking business owner/operator. He also had many passions like buying, fixing and reselling cars and trucks. However, he had perhaps no passion greater than his love for gospel music. He loved to sing all the old hymns while playing his guitar or accordion. Oh, how he loved to sing and play.

He was a faithful and loved member of El Sendero De La Cruz Church, now known as Restore City Church. He was a father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. A man of honor and respect, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Miguel, Manuel, Daniel, Saul and Juan Juarez and sisters Antonia Zapata and Marina Rivera.

He is survived by his loving wife Beatrice H. Juarez and his four children Abel, (Kim), Robert, (Marna), Elizabeth Strifert, (Ric) and Joel. He is also survived by a brother Vicente Juarez Sr. and a sister Lupe Alcorta (Texas), as well as eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Please join us in honoring and celebrating his life on Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Restore City Church, 2227 W. Peninsula Drive in Moses Lake, Washington.
