Reader asks Council to 'wise up'

To our City Council: You can't afford to put lights on the trees across the Fill for the holidays, but you can continue the ridiculous replacement of trees on our city sidewalks to the tune of $160,000 - this time; who knows how much the next time? I really doubt the intelligence of this. Use your heads and use the money for something really important and useful. Paying $7,000 per tree is beyond stupidity. What's wrong with you people?

MLIRD land purchase on hold

MOSES LAKE - Although the Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District board of directors approved a $362,000 land purchase earlier this month, the signing of final papers on the lot that previously housed the Frank Holmes Lumber Company was put off until January. It was brought up during a special meeting Tuesday night, that the contract MLIRD directors approved during their Dec. 4 board meeting now reflected modifications that were not brought to the board for approval.
