Two arrested in Adams County drive-by shooting cases
OTHELLO — The Adams County Sheriff’s Office and Othello Police Department arrested two Othello men late last week in connection with two recent drive-by shootings. Jean Carlos Avila, 18, was arrested by the OPD, and Carlos Cerna Jr., 19, was arrested March 18 by the ACSO with the help of the Moses Lake Tactical Response Team, according to an ACSO release. The arrests stemmed from the report of a drive-by shooting on March 12 inside the Othello city limits, the release said. Othello Police Chief Phil Schenck said no one was injured in that incident. USPS seeing major increase in change of address fraud
OLYMPIA — The Washington State Department of Retirement Systems announced Tuesday a major increase in change of address fraud has caught the attention of the United States Postal Service and federal lawmakers. According to the announcement, data shows that change of address fraud and other types of identity theft numbers are up 167% from 2021 to 2022. The announcement said that the United States Postal Inspector’s office stated that seniors are the most likely targets and lawmakers are now asking USPS to tighten the identity verification process.

Children and their families were served pizza before heading out to the Moses Lake Walmart sales floor to do their Christmas shopping. After all was said and done, the children were able to take home newly bought and wrapped gifts to place under the Christmas tree in anticipation of Christmas Day. GCSO continues search for missing ML couple
EPHRATA — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday issued a statement featuring a recent picture of Charles Bergman, who along with his wife Theresa was reported missing on Monday. The photo reportedly shows Bergman at an ATM machine, though the GCSO did not say when or where the photo was taken, noting only that it is recent. The photo was being shared so that people would know what Charles Bergman looks like now, the post added. “For investigative reasons, where and when the photo was captured are not currently being disclosed,” the post said.

Marshals apprehend 26 violent offenders in eastern Washington
SPOKANE — On Aug. 25, the United States Marshals Service Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force in eastern Washington completed a two-week warrant sweep titled, “Operation Centennial Trail,” according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Within a span of two weeks, law enforcement partners focused on apprehending violent fugitives and repeat offenders who were a risk to public safety within eastern Washington, said the release. The task force was led by the U.S. Marshals, but included numerous law enforcement agencies from eastern Washington.
