Louise T. Tax May 25, 1921 - October 17, 2016
Louise T. Tax, 95, of Othello, Wash., passed away Oct. 17, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Flaxville, Mont. on May 25, 1921 to parents August Roos and Leonora Cohen, German immigrant farmers. Louise graduated from Flaxville High School with the class of 1938. She was raised with 12 siblings on the dry land farm in Flaxville. She was married to William Joseph Tax Nov. 28, 1939 in Flaxville. Together they raised nine children. In 1952 they moved to Othello where Bill worked with his brother Fritz in construction and as a mechanic for Mulligan’s Iron Works. William passed away March 3, 1991. Louise worked as a homemaker and taught first-graders Confraternity of Christian Doctrine classes for 17 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church since 1952 and was very involved in her church. Louise was well known for her talents in the kitchen and also enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. She is survived by her sons, Ted (Diane) Tax of Bothell, Wash., Larry (Joann) Tax of Poulsbo, Wash., Cliff (Lisa) Tax of Othello, Wash., James (April) Tax of Bothel, Wash., daughters, Donna Roper of Othello, Wash., Mary (Ron) Roduner of Quincy, Wash., Nancy Tax of Quincy, Wash., Connie (Tom) Adams of Federal Way, Wash. and Amy Tax, Palo Alto, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Michael John and all 12 siblings. Memorial contributions are suggested to Sister of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Mt. St. Vincent Convent, New York. Funeral arrangements will be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Othello, Wash. Shirley Elizabeth Carver
Shirley Elizabeth Carver, resident of Moses Lake, left her earthly existence on March 4, 2020, surrounded by family members. Shirley was born in October 1931, the only child of Kenneth C. Russell and Velma E. Russell in Ballard, Washington. In 1941 Shirley moved to Bremerton, Washington, and graduated from West High School. Following graduation, Shirley was employed in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a machine operator. In 1955 Shirley married Robert Carver at the First Presbyterian Church in Bremerton, Washington, and they later moved to Silverdale, Washington, where she enjoyed being a homemaker for many years. Shirley enjoyed country and western music, western movies, bowling, traveling, playing the accordion, swimming and raising horses, along with having many cats and dogs. More than anything, Shirley loved her children and grandchildren. She was also a lifetime member of the Eagles Lodge.

Mary Ann Bolyard
Mary Ann Bolyard, 88, of Soap Lake, Washington, sadly left us on March 9, 2023, at home with her family. Mary Ann was born to Palmore and Mary Clayton in Bozeman, Montana, on Jan. 13, 1935. She was the oldest of eight children. In 1951 her parents came to the Ephrata area. Following that she met Perry Bolyard and was married June 7, 1953, in Coulee City. Soon after their marriage they moved to Soap Lake, Washington where they lived out their lives. They had two children, Pamela and Darrell Bolyard. Mary Ann worked at the phone company in her early years and then became office manager for the family business at Country Boys Farm Supply.

Valentin D. Meza is the second of his sixth-generational Meza Legacy. Valentin was born on May 21, 1940, and passed away peacefully at his lifelong residence on May 12, 2025. Valentin and his only brother Guadalupe were born in Asherton, Texas and they are the children of Jesus and Francisca Meza. They moved to Moses Lake in 1957. He married Maria Angelita Briones in 1957 and raised their children and remained married for 59 years to Angelita until her passing in 2016. Valentin was an excellent provider to his family. He was a loyal member to the Laborers Local 348 for 56 years. He received numerous awards from his union. He worked on numerous projects throughout Washington state. He retired in 1989.
Joseph Cassiano Jr.
Joseph J. Cassiano Jr. was born June 26, 1951, to Joseph Sr. and Mary Lou (Smith) Cassiano. In 1970, Joe met his high school sweetheart, Janet Brown, and they were married in 1972. He passed away peacefully at home at the age of 73 with his loving wife of 53 years at his side. Joe was a lifelong resident of Moses Lake. He was a certified welder and pipe fitter who spent many years working in local factories such as Columbia Bean Co., Carnation, U&I Sugar, I.T.I., and Brown & Root before retiring from ASiMI in 2005. He was an avid hunter and fisherman known as “Catfish” to his friends. He enjoyed flying Cessna airplanes, boating, road and dirt bike riding, RVing and anything outdoors. Throughout his life he owned several 1957 Chevys including his last ’57 Bel Air that won him several trophies.

Trevor Dee Tibbs, 52, passed away on June 26, 2025, due to a tragic accident while working for his ranch. Born in 1973 to Dave and Karen Tibbs, Trevor lived a life defined by integrity, faith and deep devotion to family, country and the land he loved. A proud Marine Corps veteran, Trevor served his country honorably, achieving the rank of corporal. After his military service, he returned to the wide-open spaces he cherished and pursued his lifelong calling as a cattle rancher. Trevor was known for his strong work ethic, big dreams of expanding his ranch, and his deep love for cattle and horses. He was a true cowboy – an old-school yarn-spinner and storyteller – who never met a stranger and always kept his word.
