Catherine Nelson
Catherine (Kitty) Nelson, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by family on Feb. 26, 2023, a beautiful sunny afternoon, at Samaritan Hospital. Catherine was born in Williston, North Dakota on Sept. 2, 1930. She was the second of six children born to Leslie and Harriet Holland. The family learned to appreciate the sunsets, birds, and flowers of nature. The children loved to roam and climb the hills and have family picnics watching the sunset on the hillside of their family coal mine. She attended school in Williston and graduated from Williston High School.

EPHRATA – The Ephrata School District appointed Ken Murray as the district’s assistant superintendent of human resources earlier this week. “Ephrata is growing as a community and as a school district,” said Ephrata School Board Chair Jim Adams, in a release by the district. “To ensure that we’re prepared to meet the future needs of our students, staff and families, it’s time to add additional support to the district office. Royal City library moves closer to larger space
ROYAL CITY — Royal City’s library is about to have some breathing room. “We are hurting for space,” said librarian Jess Rosez. “Sometimes we have our programs indoors and they get a little bit tight. So we're really excited for the expansion.” The current library, located at 136 Camelia St., is only 1,200 square feet, said Susan Piercy, president of Royal City Friends of the Library.

Knights rally from early deficit, win 9-1
ROYAL CITY – The Knights bounced back from an early deficit to win 9-1 over College Place on Saturday afternoon, with three players scoring multiple goals in the win. “We’re playing the softer part of the schedule, so we have to be honest about that,” Head Coach Jens Jensen said. “That being said, still, that game is a win and you’ve got to get wins to be in the postseason. We’re happy about it. We’ve had some light scoring in the early season, so I hope that gives us some confidence in front of goal.”

County first responders plan future of local EMS with new provider.
