GCHD calls on federal officials to protect Medicaid
MOSES LAKE – Earlier this month, the Grant County Health District announced the passing of a resolution to call on federal leaders to protect and maintain funding for Medicaid. The proposed federal budget calls for possible extensive cuts to the program, which provides health care coverage for millions nationwide and thousands within Grant County.

MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake School District board met Thursday night for a regular meeting to discuss the feedback the district received from parents at Groff Elementary for next year.
Knights secure back-to-back district titles
ROYAL CITY – The Knights boys soccer team (16-3) defeated the Wapato Wolves (14-5) 3-1 to win their second straight 1A district championship Saturday. Anderson Brown contributed heavily for the Knights, accounting for two goals in the first half.

EPHRATA – The Ephrata Tigers’ girls golf team secured the title of district champions after the tournament on Monday and will move on to the state championship. This is following the team earning the league title the week prior.

RICHLAND – The Huskies (13-4-2) became 2A District champions in the Central Washington Athletic conference after their 2-0 victory over Grandview at Rich Leenhouts Stadium.

The proclamation comes amidst rising concerns about mental health challenges facing vets, with the rate of veteran suicide in Washington exceeding the national average, according to a statement from Ferguson.

Big, big, bluegill: Anglers are reporting larger-than-average bluegill being found and caught in the dunes. One of these large bluegill may be the new state record; caught by Chad Halvorson, it weighed in at 2 pounds 6 ounces. Chad spotted this monster bluegill while pre-fishing for the walleye tournament and caught it on a 2-inch swim bait. Anglers are also catching bluegill limits on jigs tipped with worms.
