Arthur E. Grubb, "Babe," "Uncle Stinky," 50, of Moses Lake, entered into rest on Jan. 30, 2006. Long time resident of Moses Lake, born on Sept. 9, 1955 in Soap Lake, attended Moses Lake High School. He was very athletic in football, baseball, wrestling, gymnastics and track. He enjoyed concrete construction, installing carpet and operating farm equipment. His passions were being with his grandkids, cooking, wood working, yard sales and road trips. He also liked to tell stories and being a practical joker. He always told everyone that he was going to be a singer when he grew up, and we all waited patiently for that day to come.

Alberto Castro
Alberto Castro, 55, of Othello Washington, passed away April 26, 2013. He was born in Othello Washington on September 21, 1957 to Anastacio and Enriqueta Castro. Alberto graduated from Othello High School. He has been together with Brenda Wolfe for 29 loving years. Alberto worked as an Outside Equipment Operator at Mc Cain Foods for 28 years before retiring. After retiring Alberto obtained his Commercial Drivers License and went to work for Wagner Seed Company, to keep himself busy, for 3 months, until his death. He was a successful business owner, member of the Musicians Union, the Catholic Church, and a lifelong member of the community here in Othello. He had a deep passion for all types of Music, most notably Santana. Alberto played the guitar and willingly passed on his knowledge to those who wanted to learn. Alberto was a father in every since of the word. He raised his step son's Ron and Justin as his own. He was the man he never had to be. Alberto was a friend to those he met along life's path. He knew no strangers. He is going to be sorely missed by those whose lives he's touched. "Guerra" Mondragon of Sunnyside Washington, Fernando (Estella) Castro of Othello Washington, Enriqueta (Luis) Madrigal "Castro" of Othello Washington, Anastacio Castro Jr. of Moses Lake Washington, Johnny Castro of Othello Washington, Cindy (Grover Kerr) Castro of Othello Washington, and Cecilia Castro of Othello Washington. Albert also leaves numerous nephews and nieces to remember him. He is preceded in death by his Son Alberto David Castro Jr. who passed away in February 16, 1988 at the age of 2 ? years old, his parents Anastacio R. and Enriqueta "Sifuentes" Castro, and his brother-in-law Wally Guerra. A Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., May 2, 2013, at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello Washington. Funeral Service will be held at 9 a.m., May 3, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Othello Washington. April 14, 1936 – Nov. 30, 2025
Sheila Ray Verhey, 89. longtime Royal Slope farm matriarch and co-founder of Verhey's Peaches, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 14, 1936, in Wenatchee, Washington, Sheila moved with her family to Yakima at age 12. She attended St. Joseph's Academy prep school, where she would meet her future husband, Dan Verhey, a student at neighboring Marquette High School. After Dan completed his tour of duty in Korea, they married and moved to Pullman to begin their family. Following Dan's graduation from Washington State University, he took a job as a teacher at Royal High School, where, with Sheila’s support, he launched the athletic program and was the first athletic director and first coach of football and wrestling. The family settled in Royal City, which barely existed at the time, and soon established their family farm north of town.
