Doris Elaine McDaniel
Doris Elaine McDaniel went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday February 1, 2011 at the age of 49 in Moses Lake. Her promotion into her Lord's presence was suddenly caused by a pulmonary embolism. Doris was born on March 31, 1961 in Ashland, Mississippi to Richard and Lucille Rooks. She graduated from Holly Springs High School in 1980 and attended Junior College in Oxford, Mississippi receiving an AA degree. She was married to David and moved to Moses Lake in 1998. She was the beloved mother of Sherita, Shavita, David Jr, and Shetekia.

Anglers catch near limits on season opener
The March 1 opener is history and anglers from all across the state enjoyed the first weekend of the season. In addition, the Quincy Trout Fishing Derby was held last Saturday. The results of the derby were not available at the time of this writing.
Tina Brown Helman
Tina Brown Helman, 53, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away March 16, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Brewster, Washington to Clair and Shirley Brown. She was a long time resident of Moses Lake, Washington. She is survived by her husband Dale (Larry) Helman, and siblings Lynda and John Wilson, Bobbie Curtis, Carl and Teresa Brown, Wendy and Val Lyons, Laura and Jay Warwick, Devra Moore, and Susan Smith, her daughter, Tovie and Cody Wilcox and son, Nick and Angel Helman with 5 grandchildren among them are Shalyn Helman, Kendan, Deaven, and Carson Wilcox, and Aurora Helma. Also surviving her are Joan, Charles, Mike, Terrill, and Patrick Helman, Gail Johnson, Linda Raber, and Sandra Dominick along with the numerous nieces and nephews of both the Brown and Helman families. She is preceded in death by both of her parents Clair and Shirley Brown, her father-in-law, Billy Helman, sister-in-law, Connie Helman, and niece, Shirley Wilson. Tina always had a smile on her face when she greeted you, and always had a friendly ear to lend or a shoulder to cry on! She was best known for her spontaneous laugh. She has touched many people's lives and will never be forgotten. She is a huge inspiration to everyone who knew her for her bravery and infectious love. There will be no service and there will be a family gathering done at a later date.

Herbert I. Pederson
Herbert I. Pederson, 80, passed away on Nov. 15, 2014 at Summerwood Special Care Center in Moses Lake. Herb was born on Nov. 19th, 1933 in Halliday, N.D. to Gertrude and Alfred Pederson. In 1946, he and his family moved to Idaho where they purchased 40 acres and a log house on Gold Hill 2 miles from Kendrick, Idaho. After Herb graduated from Kendrick High School in 1951, he enlisted and served in the Marine Corps from 1952 to 1955. After returning home from Korea, he worked at a variety of construction and logging jobs. In March 1960, he married his wife of 54 years, Erin, and began his career with Grant County PUD. After 27 years of employment with the PUD doing a variety of electrical and management jobs, he retired in November 1987. Herb enjoyed his retirement years traveling, golfing, fishing, hunting and just taking it easy.
