Helen Mildred Anderson

Helen was born July 7, 1918 on a homestead halfway between Twin Bridges and Sheridan, Montana, the sixth of seven children. Her father, Frank Spinner, died when she was very young. Raised by her widowed mother, Clara J. Spinner, she finished her second year of high school then had to drop out in order to earn a living. She worked in various places around Twin Bridges, including Woodward's Department Store and the Bee Factory. At the factory, Helen worked over a big tub where honey was extracted from honey combs, placed in gallon jars, and then personally delivered to each customer. She also made milk shakes at a creamery and cleaned people's homes. Helen then moved to Bozeman, Montana with her sister Alice and purchased a "whippet car." There Helen met her future husband, Clifford Anderson, while eating lunch with Alice at the PMA office of the government building where Clifford worked. They had two sons, Byron and Bruce. The family moved to Overland Park, Kansas in the mid-sixties, then to Moses Lake, Washington in the early seventies where she lived until her death.

Healthy alternatives for after-school snack time

(ARA) - The new school year is just around the corner, and with childhood obesity on the rise and an increased national focus on sensible eating, it's more important than ever to offer healthy food alternatives to kids. And not just for school lunch. Afternoon snack time is often overlooked when parents are planning meals, making it easy for families to stray away from making smart food choices.

I believe Allan Burritt is the right choice for being elected to the Moses Lake School District Board. I have found Allan to be a committed and dedicated individual when it comes to caring about the success of students who is motivated due to a genuine, sincere interest in doing good. I have found him to possess the valuable quality of striving for improvements for student success but also sensitive to, and understanding of, the economic realities we are facing today. When voting, I encourage you to consider these factors and vote for Allan Burritt as member of the Moses Lake School District Board.
