Ephrata tennis league raises money for EHS program
EPHRATA – The Tuesday Night Tennis League at Ephrata High School concluded Tuesday night, wrapping up its four-evening schedule. “I think it was a big hit,” Ephrata girl’s tennis head coach Britney Maclaod said. “We raised quite a bit (more) money than what we’re used to getting. For us, that was a huge bonus.” The league successfully raised enough money to purchase a new ball machine, as well as mitigate costs that come up throughout the season. Finishing its third year, the league saw a sharp uptick in participation. “Our first year doing this we had just a handful of teams,” Macleod said. “They were just kind of our own kids from our own program. This year, it really took off - the first night we had about 30 teams kind of filling all the courts and whatnot.” ...

We’re still there. We’re lockstep because we believe in the people.” ...
Strong second half gives Jacks fifth-straight win
QUINCY – Even with blustery conditions on the field, the Jackrabbits rallied in the second half for a 3-1 win over Cascade (Leavenworth) on Thursday night in Quincy. The Jackrabbits were down 1-0 after the first half, but goals by freshman Erick Zepeda, senior Isaac Lopez and junior Alexander Murillo powered Quincy to its fifth-straight win. “I think it’s just going to be that type of season where the second half is our part of the game,” Quincy Head Coach Francisco Tafoya said. “The wind was probably a factor in the first half where we just couldn’t break into their side of the field, a lot of it was played on ours.”

Strong court communication leads Devils to 3-1 win
WILSON CREEK – Coming off a 3-1 win over Pateros on Thursday, the Wilson Creek Devils used their on-court communication skills to bounce back after a first-set loss to defeat Riverside Christian 3-1 on Saturday. The Devils, 6-6 in league play, now prepare for a win-and-in game against Soap Lake on Thursday. “They realized that they knew they were capable of more,” Wilson Creek head coach Christa Christopherson said. Christopherson said that the Devils missed hits and serves in the first set, along with having a sense of miscommunication that led to Riverside Christian taking Set 1 25-16. “We came out slow, I don’t know what it was,” Christopherson said. “Maybe it’s because we played on Saturday, and we’ve never played in a Saturday game. We just did not come out with any sort of spark or fire.” ...
