The news has been filled with the Orlando shooting, LGBT rights, and transgender bathrooms. Gun ownership rights are again under discussion by a few in government positions. ISIS, Al-Qaeda and jihad are mentioned nearly every day along with radical Islam. Nearly every day there are reports of gang violence, domestic violence, and all sorts of evil deeds. We need to find a common thread through all of this in order to find the solution to the problem.

Gregory Daniel Stark was joyfully welcomed into the world by his parents, Michael and Barbara Stark on Dec. 14, 1978 in St. Ignatius, Mont. Shortly after his birth, Greg's family moved to Royal City, where Greg enjoyed a happy childhood and attended all 12 grades in the Royal School District. Greg excelled academically as well as athletically and enjoyed great success in track and cross-country.

MOSES LAKE — Four Moses Lake youths will advance in the Elks Hoop Shoot thanks to their free throw skills. Fabian Vargas, Preston Groth, Linden Wiltbank and Brinly Wiltbank emerged the champions in their divisions in the competition held Saturday at Frontier Middle School, according to an email from Debbie Doran-Martinez, a member of the new Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge that formed in November in Moses Lake.

Michael R. Finch of Moses Lake, Wash. was born Jan. 11, 1944, as the first child of Eldie and Margaret Finch in Yakima, Wash. Michael passed away Feb. 5, 2024, following a pneumonia infection complicated by lymphoma cancer in addition to heart and kidney failure at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, at the age of 80.
