QUINCY - The fire that destroyed Jake's Meats, just outside of Quincy on the highway to George, has been ruled accidental.

Chess tournament incoming
EPHRATA – The Waypoint Foundation Scholastic Chess Tournament is set for Saturday Feb. 3 at Parkway Intermediate School. The tournament is open to all students from kindergarten through high school seniors but participation is limited to 100 players. Gorge shooting court dates rescheduled
EPHRATA – Court documents associated with the trial for James Kelley, the suspect in the shooting that took the lives of two and wounded multiple other victims at the Beyond Wonderland music festival last year, indicate that court dates for the criminal proceedings against Kelley have been rescheduled.

Soap Lake to hold pancake fundraiser
SOAP LAKE - The Soap Lake Community and Senior Center is holding a pancake breakfast fundraiser where proceeds will go towards operation costs of the center. The breakfast will be all-you-can-eat buttermilk pancakes with links and applesauce. The fundraiser will be held Aug. 27, from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at the Soap Lake Community and Senior Center, 121 2nd Ave SE. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for kids.

Quincy softball falls to Omak in hard-fought doubleheader

SOAP LAKE — An American Robin enjoys a nice dip in a puddle in Soap Lake on April 14. Two House Sparrows, to the left of the Robin, are also taking advantage of the water created by the rain and snow of the days prior. Last week’s unseasonably cold temperatures brought unexpected snow to the area, surprising wildlife and residents alike.
Aerospace Alliance names new Ops director
REDMOND — The Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance has named Lisa Childs as the organization’s new director of operations. Childs previously worked as the PNAA’s events manager, and joined the association 13 years ago, according to an association press release.

EHS wrestling team to hold Jan. 8 fundraiser
EPHRATA - Ephrata High School wrestlers will be holding a fundraiser on Jan. 8 to raise money for the wrestling program. Wrestlers will be serving brunch along with a bake sale at Pita Pit in Ephrata, located at 26 Basin St. Nw. The fundraiser will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 8 and while the brunch is no-cost, the wrestling team is asking for donations from diners.
