Morgan L. Hansen

Morgan L. Hansen, 59, Born February 6, 1951 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to Glenn and Pearl (Layton) Hansen, passed away at home on May 3, 2010 in Coulee Dam, Washington. Morgan had made his home in Elmer City and Moses Lake. A licensed massage therapist and natural healer, Morgan’s great love was his family, especially being “Poppa” and Santa Claus for his grandchildren. He loved playing golf at Banks Lake, sailing, camping and “putting around the house – building, creating, and inventing things”. In addition, Morgan had a great capacity for healing people. He invented many natural cures to aid people with everyday pain. Morgan is survived by his beloved wife: Roberta (Brown) Hansen, whom he married at “Hitch’n Post” in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on September 9, 2000; daughters: Marcella Ronyak (Jim), Theresa Cavasos (Daniel), Cherie Shelley (Don), Faith Hansen and Robyn Andral; eight Grandchildren; seven Great-grandchildren; brothers: Willard, Donald, Howard, Ronald, Raymond, Glen and Phillip; sisters: Sarah Lou, Priscilla, Karen, Janine, Shannon and Sunny; numerous nephews and nieces and his good friend and golfing buddy: Bob McGill. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday May 8, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nespelem, WA with cremation to follow. Strate Funeral Home of Grand Coulee, WA is assisting Morgan’s family.

Encarnacion Valdez Sr. “Chon” (71) of Toppenish passed away on Saturday at Toppenish Community Hospital. He was born in Cerralbo NL Mexico on March 25, 1939 to Toribio and Martha (Pruneda) Valdez. He was raised and educated in Texas with 19 brothers and 6 sisters He moved to California and married Margaret Pedrosa in Delano, CA on June 15, 1957. They moved to Moses Lake in the late 1950’s where he worked about 8 years moving to Toppenish in the mid 1960’s where he worked as a farm laborer and truck driver for numerous farms. He retired in the early 2000’s. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and dancing. He will always be remembered for being a true family man. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Toppenish; his mother, Martha P. Valdez of Moses Lake, four sons, Joe (Ellia), Oscar (Teresa), Richard (Josie) all of Pasco and Paul of Toppenish; three daughters, Josie (Higinio) Licona of Zillah, Joann (Tony) Alvarez and Lupe (Lionel) Lopez both of Toppenish; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous brothers and sisters in the Moses Lake area. He was preceded in death by his father and numerous brothers and sisters. Visitation will be at Colonial Funeral Home on Tuesday November 23, 2010 from 12-5 PM. Recitation of the Rosary will be at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at 6 PM Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial at the church on Wednesday November 24, 2010 at 10 AM. Interment will follow at the Zillah City Cemetery. Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Paul Thomas McConkie, 57, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Friday, May 19, 2006 in Moses Lake. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2006 at the Stake Center, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1515 S. Division with Bishop Rod Redford officiating. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. Interment will follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. HARVEY VERNIER, 83, passed away on June 2, 2012 in Spokane, WA as a result of congestive heart failure. He was born Aug. 8, 1928 at Wenatchee, WA and resided with his parents Paul & Imelda (Libey) Vernier on a farm near Ephrata, WA until the family moved to Pullman, WA. He graduated salutatorian from Pullman High School and continued his education at Washington State University where he earned a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree and a physics degree in 1950. Harvey opened his architectural practice in Moses Lake, WA in 1955 doing commercial and residential buildings. He participated in many community committees including the Moses Lake Citizens Committee on Capital Improvements and the Moses Lake Planning Commission. He was elected to the City Council in 1979 and was appointed in 1980 to the Washington State Board for Community College Education. Harvey was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul & Imelda Vernier; his brother Elry Vernier & sister Carol Vernier Nelson. He is survived by a sister Jean McCandless of Spokane; five nephews & four nieces. A viewing will be held from 1 to 5 PM today (Wednesday) at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman, WA. The graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 1 PM at the Pullman Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, Washington is caring for the family. Polhamus, Elizabeth T. - age 99 of Lenoir City, TN formerly of Colton CA and Moses Lake, WA passed away Friday, April 18, 2014. She was a graduate of Catholic Girls High School and attended Mt. St. Mary's College in Los Angeles. Elizabeth retired from the California Public School System where she worked as a teacher. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Francis O. Polhamus; son, Richard Alvin Polhamus; parents, Alvin and Theresa Dowling Hanssen; brother, Alvin Hanssen, Jr., and sisters, Virginia Orewyler and Gertrude Cox. Survived by her daughters, Patricia Straling and husband, George of Gardnerville, NV, Theresa Powell and husband, Brooks of Loudon, TN; son, Eugene Francis Polhamus and wife, Bonnie of Creston, WA; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ann Marie Brislin of Downey, CA; several nieces and nephews. The family is deeply grateful to all the staff at Baptist Health Care Center in Lenoir City for the excellent and loving care they have given. Duane D. Pedersen, 83, of Othello, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at the Living Care Center in Kennewick, Wash. He had been a resident of Othello for 42 years working as a Civil Engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation on the Columbia Basin Project. Duane was a veteran of both World War II, participating in D- Day and the Korean War. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Chapel, Othello.
