Harvey Vernier

HARVEY VERNIER, 83, passed away on June 2, 2012 in Spokane, WA as a result of congestive heart failure. He was born Aug. 8, 1928 at Wenatchee, WA and resided with his parents Paul & Imelda (Libey) Vernier on a farm near Ephrata, WA until the family moved to Pullman, WA. He graduated salutatorian from Pullman High School and continued his education at Washington State University where he earned a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree and a physics degree in 1950. Harvey opened his architectural practice in Moses Lake, WA in 1955 doing commercial and residential buildings. He participated in many community committees including the Moses Lake Citizens Committee on Capital Improvements and the Moses Lake Planning Commission. He was elected to the City Council in 1979 and was appointed in 1980 to the Washington State Board for Community College Education. Harvey was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul & Imelda Vernier; his brother Elry Vernier & sister Carol Vernier Nelson. He is survived by a sister Jean McCandless of Spokane; five nephews & four nieces. A viewing will be held from 1 to 5 PM today (Wednesday) at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman, WA. The graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 1 PM at the Pullman Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman, Washington is caring for the family.
