Ruth Eva Baumgartner, a resident of Quincy since 1977, died on Saturday, the 26th of May at Columbia Basin Hospital. She had a peaceful ending of her life here on earth and is living with the Lord now.

David A. Proffitt, 60, longtime Moses Lake resident and plant manager at Weyerhauser, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005 at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.
Robert Lee Senn
Robert Lee Senn, 81, of Ephrata died Friday from injuries sustained in a car accident. Born Oct. 23, 1923 in Brea, Calif., Robert graduated from Shafter, Calif., and married Dona Jane Neufeld in June 1944. He served as an Army Air Corp P-47 fighter pilot in Italy, France and Germany.
John Edward Brown Jr.
John Edward Brown Jr., 58, of Moses Lake passed away on Feb. 7 in the Critical Care Unit of Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee after a brief illness. He was born on Nov. 14, 1947. John knew that Jesus was his Lord and Savior, and reached out to him in the hospital saying, "I'm right here. Here I am." John was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moses Lake, where he was recently elected to the Church Council. He was involved in every Bible study he could be in and participated in many fellowship events.
Merle Palmerton
It is with great joy that we celebrate her life and with sadness, we announce the death of longtime Moses Lake resident Merle Palmerton. She died on Jan. 4, 2007, at the age of 91. She was born June 25,1913, in Mt. Vernon, Wash. to Wilbur and Zoe Chesnut. After graduation from high school in Mill City, Ore. she attended Oregon State University where she competed on the swim team and majored in Art. She married Sam Palmerton in Salem, Ore. on Nov. 25, 1941, and they were married for 54 years. They had two children, Gae and Pat. Merle and Sam moved the family to Moses Lake from Idanha, Ore. in 1952 at the opening of the Columbia Basin Reclamation Project. They cleared sage brush and built the family farm in Block 41, east of Moses Lake where she lived until Sam's death in 1996. Merle was employed as a secretary by the Moses Lake School District until her retirement. For many years she was the secretary for the district's Special Services Dept. She was a 30-year member of the Washington School Secretaries Association and was selected as one of the top 10 school secretaries in the nation. She hunted and fished, was an accomplished seamstress, baked heavenly pies, loved to dance and play bridge. Merle and Sam traveled throughout the nation and the world during their retirement and loved their winters in Hawaii. They were both avid snorklers.
Eugene (Gene) Henry Oord
Eugene (Gene) Henry Oord, 74, died peacefully in his sleep Thursday, Dec. 14, at his home in Othello. Oord was born Dec. 27, 1931, in a farmhouse in Zillah. Oord is a graduate of Zillah High School (1950). He won scholarships to play basketball and baseball at Yakima Valley Junior College and Whitworth College, earning his B.A. in education in 1955. Oord also eventually earned his M.A. in education and certificate in administration from Washington State University and his certificate of counseling from Eastern Washington University.

Jiri Vanourek
Jiri Vanourek (JV), 84, of Othello, Wash. departed this mortal life while at his home, to be with his Lord amongst heaven’s mountains Sept. 18, 2015. He was born in Horky, Czechoslovakia on Jan. 30, 1931 to parents Vratislav and Ruzena (Zahradnikova) Vanourek. He and his two sisters grew up on the farm and he attended high school in the nearby town of Caslav.
