EPHRATA — While the air over Eastern Washington is expected to start clearing this weekend, Grant County Health officials are still concerned that the air may not improve enough in time for the state of the Grant County Fair next week.

City of Warden Notice of SEPA Determination of Non-significance NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT the City of Warden has determined that the proposed Sewer Line Extension Project is not likely to result in significant adverse environmental impacts and has issued a Determination of Non-significance. Project Description: The project would extend the wastewater collection system to better serve its users within the City limits. This includes the installation of approximately 3,870 LF of 8-Inch gravity sewer, 420 LF of 2-Inch gravity sewer, and 2,900 LF of 6-Inch force main. As part of this project, a new access road will also be constructed to the lift station. Project Location: The proposed project site parallels the USBR East Low Canal Easement approximately 10 ft south of the southern border of the easement from approximately 300 ft west of the Columbia Basin Railroad Mainline for approximately 2,200 ft. The project then parallels Basin Street to Road U SE. A copy of the threshold determination for this proposal may be obtained upon request to the City of Warden . Diana Lynne Spofford went home to serve our Lord in the early morning of Dec. 27. She was born Diana Lynne Stone on Aug. 18, 1952, in Charleston, West Virginia to Ronald and Oreeda (McGraw) Stone. Diana passed away peacefully on Dec. 27, 2025, at home in Soap Lake, Washington, surrounded by her family. In the early ’50s Diana’s family moved from West Virginia to the Leavenworth, Washington area. She was the oldest of six siblings growing up in Leavenworth, Washington where she spent many years working in agriculture, particularly in the apple orchards. This orchard experience benefited Diana in later life where she managed various orchards and owned an orchard in the Quincy and Mattawa areas.

Noemi Yarrito

Noemi (Nonie) Yarrito, age 62. How do you say goodbye to someone you have loved your whole life? Noemi loved traveling, dancing and sightseeing. She was the favorite aunt of six nephews, three nieces, 10 great-nephews, nine great-nieces, one great-great niece and one great-great-nephew, all of whom she claimed as her own. She loved them all. They were all her babies. She will be missed by her family, friends, and compadres. Noemi was born in Moses Lake, Washington. She was a graduate of Moses Lake High School, Class of 1979, and was a WIC certifier for more than 30 years. She retired from WIC in 2022. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, beading, acrylic painting, jewelry making, sewing, gardening and glass art.

Vawn Burk Davis Sr.

Vawn Davis Sr. passed away on Aug. 15, 2023, at the age of 59. Vawn was born Jan. 24, 1964, in Anacortes, Washington to Kenneth Gordon Davis and Bonna Rose Burk. He was the youngest of five boys, raised from a young age in Yakima, Washington where he attended Eisenhower High School. Vawn moved to Moses Lake, Washington in the mid-’90s where he lived the remainder of his days. Vawn was an avid racing fan and enthusiast. He met his future wife Mary Nan Willey at the race track. They married in 1995 and had two boys, Steven and Vawn Jr (Bo). They raced for NVS Racing (family team) all over the Inland Northwest in hobby and street stock divisions. They divorced in 2001. He enjoyed his weekends watching NASCAR, the Seahawks and the Mariners. In his later years, he turned his attention to two wheels, building and riding motorized bicycles all over Moses Lake.
