The Fishin' Magician: More triploids in Rufus Woods
If you recall the Trippin' with the Triploids Derby in Bridgeport this past spring was a huge success. Many anglers participated and the organizers did a great job taking care of everyone. They decided that the best use of the proceeds from the event be used to put more triploids back into Rufus Woods Reservoir. On Friday, Sept. 7 they did just that.
Fishing Magician Report - April 6
There are lots of trout lakes open to fishing in the Columbia Basin, but there will still be lots of anglers headed up to Lake Roosevelt to do their fishing. There are still limits of big rainbow being bagged regularly here.
The Fishin' Magician
I just got some disappointing news. The sockeye fishery on Lake Wenatchee is closing on Sunday, August 16.

THANK YOU
This past week-end over 200 Lions from Washington, British Columbia and Idaho came to Moses Lake for the Annual Multiple District 19 D Lions Spring Conference. A wonderful time was had by everyone. Good food, good friends and special times. It took a lot of planning and work on everyone's behalf.
The Fishin' Magician: Good News
I am getting inquiries about the fishing at Curlew Lake. I think people are thinking about the big holiday weekend coming up. Curlew is one of my favorite places, too, so I touched base with Doug at Tiffany's Resort. He had a lot of good news for anglers.
The Fishin' Magician: Changes for gilnetters
If you haven't heard there are some dramatic changes coming for gillnetters on the main stem Columbia River. It began when the Oregon Coastal Conservation Association got a measure on the ballot to remove gillnets. That got the Oregon governor in gear and he set up a work group made up of Oregon and Washington Fish and Wildlife commissioners met to develop a plan.
Moses Lake golf second in Wenatchee
Lose by 3 strokes
WENATCHEE - The Chiefs girls golf team got back in the swing of things after a week off for spring break with a second place finish in POD match No. 2 at the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club Monday.
Fishin' Magician: Dave Graybill
The drawdown of Wanapum Dam on the Columbia River has raised concerns among the angling community, primarily about fish passage. At current levels salmon returning up river cannot pass this structure, but I have learned that plans are in place to make sure our spring Chinook and subsequent runs of salmon safely make it up stream.
Low cost loans offered for farm youths
EPHRATA - It's that time of year again to be considering FFA and 4-H Youth Loan Projects for spring and summer shows.
The Fishin' Magician: Early Spring Walleye
My fishing buddy Rollie Schmitten and I traveled to Northport, which is just south of the Canadian Border on the Columbia River, and spent two days fishing. This stretch of the Columbia flows much like it has for eons and the water is big and often wild.
The Fishin' Magician: Lakes for Ice Fishing
Those who enjoy ice fishing and like to catch quality trout should consider a couple of lakes in Okanogan County. One is very much overlooked, and I suppose the reason is that it is a winter lake, that is it is managed to open in the late fall and close in the early spring. That's Davis Lake, near Twisp.
The Fishin' Magician: Trout on Northport
One of the reasons I wanted to get to Northport was to try the early spring fishing for big rainbow and cutthroat in the Columbia. Our guide, Justin Hotchkiss, of Far North Charters, is an expert at taking these fish on a fly.

The Mattawa City Council voted to extend the COVID-19 emergency provisions that were put into place in the spring of 2020, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, during a regular, virtual meeting on Thursday.
