EPHRATA - It's that time of year again to be considering FFA and 4-H Youth Loan Projects for spring and summer shows.

According to the Farm Service Agency's Libby Anderson, Rural Youth Loans are available through the Farm Service Agency. The current interest rate is 1.875%.

“It has been very successful over the last five years,” Anderson said. “There have been many repeat youth loan participants, and it has been fun and rewarding to watch their progress and see them mature into great leaders within their clubs.”

The Youth Loan provides an opportunity for participants to learn about preparing financial statements, budgeting and the lending process. FSA assists with the financial aspect of FFA and 4-H projects and also provides teaching and training for leaders and the youth to market their projects and clubs within our communities.

“These are life skills that will be valuable in obtaining future jobs,” Anderson said. “The FSA would like to ensure that these youth loan projects are successful. Thus, we are here to help any way we can.”
