Amelia (Nena) M. Montemayor, 88, passed away on March 24, 2023, at Holy Family of Spokane Washington. She was born July 12, 1934, to Procopio and Maria Del Rufugio Montemayor in Doctor Gonzalez, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She was married to the late Jesus G. Montemayor. Amelia enjoyed traveling between Washington and Mexico with her husband. She worked at Carnation in Moses Lake. She loved the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-children these were the highlights of her life. Amelia is survived by her Daughter SanJuana (Marc) Alvarez, son Jose Juan (Irma) Montemayor and son Saul (Oneida) Montemayor; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Advertisement for Pre-Solicitation Informational Meeting Port of Moses Lake - Grant County International Airport Runway 14L-32R Line-of-Sight Rehabilitation Project The Port of Moses Lake is conducting an Informational Meeting to interested contractors and suppliers to explain the draft scope of work and project requirements associated with the future Runway 14L-32R Line-of-Sight Rehabilitation project. This project is anticipated to advertise in May 2019. The meeting will be held on April 11, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Grant County International Airport, located at 7810 Andrews NE, Moses Lake, WA 98337, in the fire department training room located in the building immediately east of the airport terminal. Following the Informational Meeting, contractors and suppliers can schedule a 30-minutue, one-on-one phone meeting with the Port to discuss the project through April 30, 2019. This would be an opportunity for contractors to express/provide concerns or recommendations regarding the scope and project requirements with Port staff. Feedback provided by the contractors may be incorporated into the advertised project documents. The registration deadline for the one-on-one meetings is April 25, 2019, 3:00 PM. Robert Lee Jamison

Robert Lee Jamison passed away peacefully from brain cancer at LakeRidge Special Care Center on the morning of July 17, 2008, with his loving family at his side. He was born on May 26, 1947, to Robert Lee and Mabel Jamison in Tacoma, Wash. He received his bachelor's degree from Washington State University, where he learned to shoe horses and teach. Bob went on to get his master's degree in education from Central Washington University, and spent 36 years as a teacher, Vocational Administrator, and Director of Alternative School Education for both Moses Lake and Ephrata School Districts.

Myrtle A. Phillips, 83, lost her long battle with cancer on Oct. 30. She was born in Spokane, Washington in 1936, where she lived until she met and married the love of her life, her husband Jerry. They spent their early years moving around with the military. They moved back and forth between Jackson, Mississippi and Spokane, Washington until they finally settled in Moses Lake. She’s lived for 48 years in Moses Lake in her dream home.

Author lecture, Mt. St. Helens topics of NCW Libraries programs

WENATCHEE — A biologist will talk about the revival of plants and animals on Mt. St. Helens and an author will talk about her writing process in separate virtual lectures sponsored by NCW Libraries. Writer and biologist Eric Wagner, author of “After the Blast: Mt. St. Helens 40 Years Later,” will talk about the mountain’s revival in the four decades since the May 18, 1980, eruption. Wagner’s lecture is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Jan. 25 and will include a question-and-answer session. The library is partnering with Humanities Washington for the presentation. Writer Yasmin Ramirez will discuss her memoir, “Andale Prieta: A Love Letter to My Family,” at 7 p.m. Feb. 9. Ramirez will talk about the story of her family, detail some of her writing process, and the playlist she created to accompany the book. She will be answering questions as well. Her lecture is part of the NCW Virtual Reads series. Registration is required. People can register at the NCW Libraries website, www.ncwlibraries.org.
