| June 7, 2022 11:42 AM

Francisco Alvarez, better known to friends and family as Frank Alvarez Sr., passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2022, in Shoreline Washington, where he was living with his daughter, Dr. Alma Alvarez-Smith.

Frank lived a long and blessed 96 years, spending 74 of those years with his beloved bride, Eloise. Frank and Eloise began their lives together in Harlingen, Texas, where they had six children. In the early 1960s, the family of eight headed north to make Moses Lake their home. A skilled handyman and landscaper, Frank held several positions through his adult life, ultimately retiring from the Moses Lake School District, where he took great pride in keeping the school clean and tidy as a janitor for many years.

Frank is survived by wife Eloise, daughters Beatrice Senn (Steve) and Alma, son Fernando Alvarez (Rena), son-in-law David M. Gent, brother Domingo Alvarez and sisters Aurora Camargo and Christina Thomas, as well as two brothers-in-law Gregory Vela and Clyde Vela. He was one of the oldest living members of the large and extended Alvarez family, leaving behind many surviving members, including many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

Living to the age of 96 also means that Frank was predeceased by several members of his immediate family, including son Frank Alvarez Jr., daughters Sophia Love and Elsa Alvarez, grandson Anthony D. Alvarez, brother Antonio Alvarez and sisters Elvina Rodriguez and Candace Rodriguez.

A small memorial Mass will be held for friends and family on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at St. David Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shoreline, Washington. At a future date, friends and family in the Moses Lake area will be able to pay their last respects when Frank’s ashes will travel back to Moses Lake to be interred at his home church, St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.
