Grant PUD remembers Allred
EPHRATA - Grant County PUD staff are mourning the loss of former commissioner Randy Allred, 62, who died of cancer at his Royal City home on Friday. Allred, a Royal City farmer, served on the PUD board of commissioners since 2003, and resigned earlier this year due to declining health issues.

Steven Charles Merchant died last Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006 on Mt. Spokane while snowmobiling with close friends. He died of an apparent heart attack. He was 41, husband of Lanith Perrins Merchant for more than 20 years and the father of six children and one granddaughter.

David A Keil
David A Keil, 59, of Soap Lake, died at his home on Fairway Drive on Monday, May 15 after a battle with Prostate Cancer. Dave was born August 31, 1946 in Huron, S.D. to Morgan Keil and LaVerna Roher. He moved with his parents to Everett when he was two years old. He enlisted in the Army after graduating from Cascade High School and served in Vietnam as crew chief of a helicopter gun ship. After he was discharged, Dave worked for Rainier News in Everett for 23 years before moving to Ephrata in 1992. He then worked for General Dynamics in Moses Lake. He established many friendships while working for both companies. He was also an avid golfer, fisherman and bowhunter enjoying many evenings around the campfire with some of his closest friends.

Lorene Lilas Hodson went home to the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005. She was born Oct. 16, 1919 in Ralston, to Ewald and Bertha (Suko) Roloff. In 1938, she graduated from Othello High School, being the only girl in the graduating class of five. On Nov. 6, 1938 she married Harold (Hike) Hodson at the Roloff family farm between Othello and Warden.

Loyl Edwin "Pete" Ring
Loyl Edwin "Pete" Ring, age 83, entered into rest on April 10, 2006 at Sun Terrace Assisted Living and Retirement Community. He was born on October 4, 1922 in Kearney, Neb., to William Henry and Hattie (Gordon) Ring. He attended grade school in Lincoln, Neb. The family moved to Montana where he lived until enlisting in the Army in 1943. He served as a Tech 5th Grade during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945.
