Lorene Lilas Hodson

Lorene Lilas Hodson went home to the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005. She was born Oct. 16, 1919 in Ralston, to Ewald and Bertha (Suko) Roloff. In 1938, she graduated from Othello High School, being the only girl in the graduating class of five. On Nov. 6, 1938 she married Harold (Hike) Hodson at the Roloff family farm between Othello and Warden.

She and Hike settled on Othello and remained there until the end of her life. She worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for a time, was a clerk at a drugstore and retired from the Othello School District as a librarian aide in 1979. She was a member of the local Eastern Star and earned the title of Worthy Matron at the end of her tenure. She had many hobbies during her lifetime, including rock hounding throughout the United States and into Canada. She was an artist in many media, stained glass, pottery, oil painting, crocheting and needlepoint. Lorene was a coin collector and an avid shopper.

She is survived by her husband Hike at the family home, her children, Curt Hodson (Diana) of Post Falls, Idaho and Sally Rodgers (Don) of Othello; her grandchildren, Kim, Scott, Kellie, Erik, Matthew, Ian and Brett; her great-grandchildren, Alissa, Lynsey, Alexis, Mathew, Dustin, Tristan and Evan. She was preceded in death by her parent and brothers Elmer and Robert Roloff.

She was dearly loved and will be missed.

A time for final visitation will be held at Stevens Funeral Chapel in Othello on Sunday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. A tribute to her life will be celebrated on Monday at the Othello Church of the Nazarene at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens.
