Geoffrey Jon Gilbert, 42, died as a result of a tragic motorcycle accident on February 9, 2010 near his home in Napavine, Washington. Geoff was born on April 27, 1967 in Detroit, Michigan to Dr. Richard E. and Sharron M. Gilbert. He grew up in Gig Harbor, WA where he attended Peninsula High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from Central Washington University. Geoff performed with the U.S. Navy Band for nearly 10 years. An accomplished jazz musician, he was a jazz band director and trumpet counselor at Burton and Porter Music Camps. In addition, he performed with the Yakima Symphony and Brass Ensemble. Since his employment with the Chehalis School District at W.F. West High School in August 2006, Geoff was involved with the Northwest Wind Symphony, as president and trumpeter, was the Southwest Washington Music Educators Association President-Elect and was recently accepted into the Olympia Jazz Senators.

SUNNYSIDE - Ephrata's Kendall Sage was crowed individual champion at the CWAC District 5/6 girls golf tournament at Black Rock Creek in Sunnyside Tuesday. Her round of 90 on the par 72 course earned her the medalist award and helped lead the Tigers to a third place finish out of the 10 schools that participated in the event.

Eva Ruth Billman, "Grandma Wee Wee", age 78, swiftly and peacefully passed thru the veil and into the arms of her sweetheart on June 14, 2011. Ruth was born on September 8, 1932 in Bozeman, Montana to Thomas Albert and Blanch Emmaline Cole Richey. She married Delbert Ray Billman on December 23, 1950 in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 24, 1971.
