Irvin Kent Howe was born to Ellen Alberdina Galloway Howe and Lawrence James Howe in Ontario, Oregon. He spent his first years in Ontario with his parents and older sister, Vivian Nadene Howe. Later on, his younger sister, Rita Howe, joined the family. When Irvin was four years old, he contracted polio, so he was taken to Boise, Idaho, and put into an iron lung. He also spent time at Shriner’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon, undergoing surgery to repair his leg. As a child, he mainly lived in Ontario and Madras, Oregon, as well as Eltopia and Blythe, Washington.

William (Bill) Arthur Mackey
William (Bill) Arthur Mackey, 77, passed away Nov. 19 in the comfort of his own home. A funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Rose Street Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1036 W. Rose Ave. Everyone is welcome to join in the celebration of his life. Interment to follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Bill was born Jan. 19, 1945, in Seattle, Washington, son of the late Arthur and Eleanor Mackey. The family moved to Moses Lake when he was 6 years old and he has called Moses Lake his home since then. Bill attended Knolls Vista Elementary and Frontier Middle School, and graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1963. After high school he attended Columbia Basin Technical College and earned his associate's degree. He worked for many years at A&H Printers, Biffanos, Webco, Walmart, and his favorite job, running the concession stands for Moses Lake High School and Big Bend Community College. He also enjoyed being a volunteer firefighter for many years as well as volunteering at the Grant County Fair, and as a 4-H leader for the 89ers 4-H club.
Bonnie Byington
Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, friend and disciple of Jesus Christ passed away on Feb. 8, 2023, at the age of 85. Bonnie Bell Platt was born June 4, 1937, in Cedar City, Utah, as the second child to Rheabel Butterfield and J. Clair Platt. She had four siblings. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Wyatt Craig Byington, her brother Jay Owen Platt and her sister-in-law Susan Nielson Platt. Bonnie was a longtime resident of Moses Lake (since 1972). She spent her early years in southern Utah where she grew up during the Depression and World War II, which taught her the value of hard work, sacrifice, and family. When she was 14, her family moved to western Idaho. Bonnie attended New Plymouth High School where she met her husband, Carl Byington.
Pamela Cassiano Curnel
Pamela Cassiano Curnel, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends after a private battle with pancreatic cancer. Pam was born June 16, 1952, to Joseph Sr. and Marylou Cassiano. She was one of five children. Pam graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1970 and attended Big Bend Community College and Central Washington University.

Lupe (Mitzi) Cruz, 87, passed away on Wednesday, May 22 at 12:35 a.m. peacefully, with her loving family at her side. She was born September 25, 1936, in Fairmont City, Illinois. As a child she went to school in Cle Elum. She then moved to Yakima until she married Henry Zarate Sr. Later in life she married Pedro Serrano. Lupe is survived by her brothers Johnny Cruz (Jane) and Dennis Barbeau; sisters Mary (Linga) Vielmas (Jose), Josephine Manley, and Patricia Brogan; daughters Mary (Baby) Zarate, Margie Rodriguez (Carlos) and Kathy Zarate (Eddie); grandchildren Tom Zarate (Celinda), Shawna Garcia, Melissa Nimley (Sateah), Christina Garcia, Jason Zarate (Gina), Channel Enriquez (Clarence), Chalissa Badley, Kathleen Badley, Jessica Hayworth and Blake McDougall; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents Toribio and Martha Cruz; her brothers William (Memo) Cruz, Jack Cruz Jr. and Frank Cruz; her sisters Mary Lou Cruz, Sally Cruz and Ruth Cruz; her son Henry Zarate, Jr. and her first husband Henry Zarate, Sr.
