Moses Lake Museum and Arts Center to host hip-hop lecture
MOSES LAKE – Artist and activist King Khazm will be lecturing on hip-hop music at the Moses Lake Museum and Arts Center Aug. 31 from 6 to 7 p.m., according to a press release from the museum. The Moses Lake Museum and Arts Center is partnering with the Humanities Washington Speakers Bureau to host the lecture, which is titled “Hip-Hop and It Don’t Stop,” and will be on the art, history, philosophy, and ethics of hip-hop. The Speakers Bureau is an organization that provides free public presentations on history, politics, music, philosophy and spiritual traditions to Washington communities. “Hip-hop culture and its founding principles are often misunderstood due to its commodification and exploitation by corporate interests and mainstream media,” stated the release. “Few know its humble roots as a tool to unify, uplift, and amplify voices, particularly for youth of color.”

The biological products Altosid A.L.L. and Bacillus thuringienis israelensis (b.t.i.) are being used this year in the aerial larviciding program. These products are applied to swamps or other standing water where mosquito larva are present.

Moses Lake Museum exhibit shows the best of our region
MOSES LAKE — Central Washington, in all its beauty, is on display at the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center. The exhibition titled simply “Life in Central Washington” features the work of Yakima Valley Arts Association members. The show opened on Feb. 3 and runs until March 17. “All the pieces in the show are pretty much inspired by our landscape,” said Dollie Boyd, director of the museum. “The work that we do here, the agriculture, the plants, the flora, the fauna.”
