Blake Chandler Marcusen, 27, of George, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake due to complications with pneumonia. Blake was born on April 18, 1997, to Allan and Linda Marcusen and spent his early years playing on the family farm with his two older brothers. He participated in 4-H and enjoyed sports, especially football. He had a love for fast cars and was always thrilled to drive his mother's Hellcat. He attended Royal High School. Blake was devout in his faith and passed away while serving the Lord as a service missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He thoroughly enjoyed his time and the friends he met as a missionary. Blake was loved by all who met him. He was well known for his good-natured humor and his ability to make lasting friends, of which he had many. His rib-crushing, heartfelt hugs, quickness to smile and laugh and resolute faith will be greatly missed. His absence will be deeply felt by all.

Shirley LaVon Colley, 86, was born to Morley and Ann (Kramer) Kerr on Nov. 13, 1936, in Kelso, Washington. Shirley passed to her rest on April 17, 2023, believing in the hope of the resurrection promised by the grace of her Lord Jesus Christ. She was the eldest of five children. The family moved around during her early years so Shirley attended many different schools including Granger. In 1954 Shirley married the late George Price Colley. They lived in Sunnyside until moving to Othello in 1956. The Colleys were one of the first mint farmers in the Othello area.
Brian Slaugh
Brian Eugene Slaugh passed away quickly of a heart attack on Feb. 26, 2023, at 62 years of age. Brian was a resident of West Valley City, Utah at the time of his death. He attended school in Moses Lake, Washington during his junior high and high school years and graduated in 1979 from Moses Lake High School. He also attended BBCC, EWU and Weber State. Brian was single at the time of his death. He is survived by his parents Phil and Doreen Slaugh, sisters Susan Chatterton (Alan) and Sharon Helke and brother Don (Verna) Slaugh. He was preceded in death by his brother Darron. He had numerous cousins, nieces and nephews whom he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a good cook and worked at Perkins and Porterhouse restaurants in Moses Lake and Marie Callender’s in Utah. He spent 25 years as an employee of the IRS as an examiner in Ogden, Utah and had taken an early retirement because of health issues.

Andrea Renee Rodriguez, 25, of Moses Lake, Washington, passed away in Everett, Washington on June 7, 2025, due to natural causes. Andrea was surrounded by a loving family. Andrea was born on January 16, 2000, in Moses Lake, Washington, the daughter of Juan “Gibby” Rodriguez and Veronica Silva-Rodriguez. Andrea did have a long history of dealing with mental illness, but she worked when should could which included cash register jobs at Safeway, Rite Aid and Grocery Outlet.

His body will be carried in a horse-drawn carriage and will be laid to rest next to his mother. Floyd was 46 when he was killed May 25 as a white Minneapolis officer pressed a knee on Floyd’s neck as the dying man cried out for his mother.
