Civil Air Patrol presents at council workshop

EPHRATA – Civil Air Patrol cadets practiced presenting the colors at an Ephrata City Council workshop Wednesday evening at City Hall. The drill and ceremonies competitors are headed to California for competition soon and wanted to get practice in front of an audience. Kathy Maxwell with the Civil Air Patrol said this is multiple years in a row the Ephrata squadron has qualified for the competition. Members said the competition includes a variety of categories including physical fitness, knowledge and drill and ceremonies.

Because what I've noticed is, there's a lot of men-heavy plays.”

MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Farmers Market will open Saturday for the season in high style, with live music, entertainment, a raffle, a scavenger hunt and a ribbon-tying ceremony with Moses Lake Mayor Dustin Swartz to symbolize the community coming together at the market. The event is in keeping with the theme of the market this year, according to an announcement from the Market Manager Christine Haguewood. “This year’s theme, ‘Tied Together by Community,’ highlights the power of local connections – bringing together farmers, artisans and neighbors for a fresh, meaningful start to the season,” Haguewood wrote. The Moses Lake Farmers Market was established in 1978 and takes place every Saturday from the beginning of May through the end of October at McCosh Park. The number of vendors varies, but this year’s market will kick off with more than 50, Haguewood wrote in her statement.

Dustin Wayne Stark was a beloved soul, born on July 9, 1978, in Ephrata, Washington. No parent wants to see their child's time up before their own. Unfortunately for Robert Stark and Loretta Stark, they didn't get the chance to see their son grow past the age of 46. Dustin was the youngest of siblings, Kimberly Stark and Robert Stark. He has two daughters, Kierstin Stark and Daytona Stark. He had many nieces and nephews who loved him, and he loved them too: Ryan Cross, Tyler Stark, Brett Darling, Alexis Stark, Masin Mcleod, Zander Cross, Zayden Cross and Penelope Cross.

MOSES LAKE — A former Moses Lake man was recently honored with a knighthood in Finland. Collin Hansen, a 1975 graduate of Moses Lake High School, was awarded the Order of the Lion of Finland at a ceremony March 18.
