Knights avenge state playoff loss, defeat Riverside 78-39

ROYAL CITY – While the 2023-24 season is in the past, the Royal Knights had a chance to avenge their loss in last season’s state boys basketball tournament with Friday night’s non-league matchup against Riverside, doubling up the Rams in a 78-39 win. Riverside defeated Royal 55-40 in the Round of 12 at the 1A State Boys Basketball Tournament last February in Yakima. Both teams returned three starters from their previous matchup.

Tigers defeat Mavericks in overtime on the pitch

MOSES LAKE – On Thursday, the Ephrata Tigers stormed Lions Field and brought home an overtime victory against the Mavericks. After a scoreless game in regulation, the Tigers’ fate would be decided by goalkeeper Airan Valle. The Tigers secured the victory after holding their own in penalty kicks 4-2. “I'm just like, ‘Okay, let's stay calm, and let's just save these goals,’” Valle said.

Knights defeat Wahluke, remain unbeaten

ROYAL CITY – On Friday, the Royal Knights (7-0) and the Wahluke Warriors (2-5) met in a South Central Athletic Conference game. The Knights were dominant offensively, defeating the Warriors 65-6.

MOSES LAKE – The Washington Sixers 14U team went undefeated last weekend as they were victorious over TC Bashers and LC Closers. According to head coach Rey Lopez, pitching led the way for the Sixers.

Eagles defense leads them to first regular season win

SOAP LAKE — The Soap Lake Eagles (1-1) earned a dominant 62-24 win at home over the Cascade Christian Academy Wolverines. Head Coach Leonard Lundgren said he was proud to see everyone get involved. “It feels really good. The best part about the win is everybody on the team scored a point tonight. That's the first time I've ever had a team where everybody on the bench has scored a point,” Lundgren said.
