QUINCY — A Quincy man was killed when the car he was driving was hit by another car about five miles west of Quincy early Thursday morning.

Alvaro Lopez Olmedo was driving west at about 6 a.m. when his car was hit by a vehicle driven by Miguel Marron, 39, Cashmere, according to a press release from the Washington State Patrol. Marron was driving east and Lopez Olmedo was in the eastbound lane.

The WSP memo said the accident was caused by people driving too fast for road conditions. Weather in the area has been rainy and wet and it was still dark at the time of the collision.

Marron hit Lopez Olmedo’s car broadside, the WSP release said. A third vehicle, driven by Marisa Roddick, 46, East Wenatchee, rear-ended Marron’s car.

Lopez Olmedo was pronounced dead at the scene. Marron was transported to Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital. Roddick was not injured.
